Holy crap, for a minute I thought John had a boyfriend...
Details? "Not working" is very very hard to start at.

i am awesome
John has an electrical problem. One of which has that yet to be determined therfore not much can be done to fix his car right now. I know he said Mike (Qatar11) is looking at his harness right now.

He has spark, he has gas and he has air but the car will not turn over and start. It has kicked over a few times but not started and now I think its not even doing that.

Best thing we can do to help John for real is have a "Get John back on the road." fund............. And pray >wink.gif>

john knows more than i do lol
yeah, the car will fire, but then immediately dies. it could be anything from the AFM to the ECU to the ignitor to the vacuum system. i got no clue..and i'm losing interest and hope...so i haven't worked on it in well over a week. >frown.gif>

John, do you want to try using that extra ecu that storm performance sent me? I'm pretty sure it's a ae92 afm, cuz it's like the same as your ecu. I'll ship it out to you and you can test it out if you like?

You do have a the solenoid I am assuming. Car wont start w/o it.
Also sounds like maybe u have a fuel problem. perhaps bypass the fuel resistor and wire it straight?

maybe you checked this already but i want to throw this in the mix cause it was happening to me...and it took me like 2 weeks to find....Make sure you check your Circut Opening Relay. Making sure that it has the proper voltage to the terminals..what happned with me is that I had no voltage to one of the leads and it would crank but die instantly...the circut wasnt closing. anyway just a suggestion..AND MAKE SURE THE VACCUM IS GOOD TO GO...theese engines are very sensitve to vaccum leaks.
i don't know if that motor has a distributor or coil packs, but in case it has a distributor, you might want to peek inside and look for a condensor. my 5sfe had a fried wire, it went from the condensor to the internal coil, bolted on to the positive terminal on the coil. only about a 1.5 inches in length, right behind the top plug on the cap. they're only about $3 from toyota. hope this helps.
ground points? check the afm, is there a way to test it? is the intake and ehaust hooked up? (my 7afte wouldnt run until right without a filter and my exhaust hooked up.) is the supercharger working correctly? id inspect that over... umm, is the igniton fireing in the correct order?... >confused.gif>
Hey John

If you are curious about maybe trying the new AEM stand alone unit, drop me a PM, my Friends up in Tn do get AEM products for cheap...

Jon
You did not mention other stuff like fuel pressure after starting.

Either way, try the ECU first if you can and let us know!

We have found that majority of the 4ag ecu goes bad after some time down.

But you are on the right path for troubleshooting. Also check the throttle sensor and correct harness wiring.

John! Oh, one of the great fathers of 6GC! Hehe. Man, DON'T give up. I swear, I will make the trip to TN by myself. First, I'll beat you up, steal Laura's thongs, and then you'll give me a ride back up here in your newly SC'ed Celica! >biggrin.gif> . Just kidding man. But the thing is, you know much more about this stuff than me. The answer is there! Its probably something really simple. I hope you find it soon. Good luck, man.
i'm just throwing this out 'cause i wanna help, but i had a similar problem with my truck which is ancient btw and this might not even be applicable. anyway there were two sources of power to the distributor one for starting and one for running the starting voltage came right off the 12 volt ignition, but while running it went through a ballast resistor to drop it down to about 8 volts. and i had a loose connection so it would catch at first but as soon as you let the key go it died. don't think it'll help but hey.
