I dunno if it would be too bad with red but with a white dash the glare from the sun is very annoying, so beware, theres a reason why most dashes are black.

don't paint. That's so red neck. I have only seen a couple of painted dashes that look good. If you do paint it, prime the hell out of it and sand it to get it good and smooth.
