right now im on my 205/40/17's on my 17x7 rims i just curbed them a lil and am having bad thoughts

will les swaub(or however you spell it) stretch the a lil closer to the lip?

if so does anyone know how much it cost?

And I think you're confusing two different things. For the tire to cover more lip on the rim you need a wider tire. You can't stretch a 205 to cover the same space as a 215.

Stretching a tire is actually the inverse of what you're trying to achieve. People put a 205 tire on a 8" rim, and the sidewall is stretched to fit bead to bead.


So if you want the tire to cover your rim, you need to buy wider tires.

personally i would do what ^ said, just buy a wider tire... When i got my 18x8 they were on 215s and good lord were they stretched and the ride was horrible, plus i was scared to death to hit ANYTHING, rocks, curbs, pot holes, anything. Now i'm on 225/40/18 and its so much better!!! just personal preference but it seems to me to be a wiser choice..

Just buy a 215 or 225 tire.

i run 225/45zr17 tires on my tc wheels and they work well. they clear just fine and ride well. as far as stretching goes, we don't drive VW's, so hell no. all joking aside, its a horrible idea. think about it this way, the sidewall is the main structure of the tire that carries the load (force being applied to the tire) and stretching it to an angle it wasn't designed to be run at seriously decreases the integrity of the tire. also as stated above, since the sidewall will be streched, your chances of puncturing the sidewall goes up a lot and because of liability reasons, 99% of tire shops will not repair any sidewall damage.
