i just purchase a set but it got rained on...starting to smell...off topic, but any idea to get rid of it and get a clean wash....putting it out in the sun isn't an option as it is winter time now...too cold and moist. i thought about calling the upholstery cleaning company to use their chemicals to clean it and dry vac it up...do you guys think that is a feasible idea and think it'll work cleaning the fabric and getting the odor out along with any mold if is has any starting in the cushions? (similar idea to cleaning the carpets) any thoughts to my plan?

I will post a video of a how to that way it will be easier to follow this upcoming weekend!

I usually rent the Rug Doctor for things like that or right after buying a car, I'll clean the interior. You'll be thoroughly surprised what comes out of those seats or the carpet. One time I cleaned what looked to be fairly clean carpet, and it pulled out so much dirt and "stuff" that it looked like maple syrup when I was emptying it. Must have been many cups of coffee over the years or something...lol Bring the seats inside with you, preferably near an air vent or some kind of heat source. A hairdryer works pretty well at drying them too.

so as long as you have 95 seat rails and stuff you can just take the cushion of the 7g and bolt them to the 6g hardware?

thanks moe...im calling a professional carpet/automotive upholstery cleaner to clean for 35-50 bucks...all the seats. once clean, ill do a video and go from there.

you actually take the foam cushion off of the metal seat pan and put it onto the metal seat pan of the 6th gen set. It clips right on and then a few zipties and its good to go.. Like I've said, you can just keep the 6th gen bottom cushion if you like it better. Just swap over the seat back and your done.

any problem is if you are a match freak...most celi are two tone seats.

yea i suppose they are... I've had a few celi's and all but one set were black leather so I forgot about the two tones.. but for the leather there really is no difference unless they aren't perforated I suppose.

thanks for all your help folks....this is a much easier thread to do the swap for....i haven't tried figuring out what i want to do, but if i can't use the plastics that comes with the 7gc and my 6gc plastics are busted...i think i might just go the welding route...i remember reading only three of the holes on the 7gc bracket work...but ill see what i have to do to make the fourth fit after the seats are cleaned.

hum, one question, is ti possible to remove airbag system from the 7gen seats who have them without having a awfull result?

3 holes for what? I think I have some spare charcoal colored 6th gen seat plastics...I'll have to check. If so, you can have them. Compare your 7th gen plastics to the pic I posted on the first page of the 6th gen plastics. It's been so long ago that I can't remember anymore, but I THINK I did use the 7th gen plastics when I swapped the seats into the car. I know I have a set of 7th gen plastics in my basement, and should have a spare set of 6th gen platics, I'll have to compare them to see where the mounting points are since I don't have my 7th gen seats anymore.

One slight difference with the 7th gen seat bottom is that the height adjustor is in a slightly different spot, about an inch away from the 6th gen location IIRC. Not a big deal but if your 7th gen seat cushion is well used, the dye may be slightly worn in a ring around where the old knob location was and where the new one is. Very unnoticeable unless you're looking for it, but it is there.


@zoik. Disconnect the battery from the 7th gen, wait for a few minutes, and then remove the airbags in the seat.

sorry, i meant i read a forum stating only 3 of the 4 mounting holes of the 7gc seat bracket(whole rail assembly) fits the 6gc holes on the floor....


one last thing....were you able to still use the 7gc seat sliders? i really like the fact that the handle to slide the seats is all-around in comparison to the 6gc which has a small handle on the corner of the seat to lift up for adjustment (sliding effect)?

started to remove and i think i will weld instead. replacing the metal support pan with the 7gc cushion was hard because it doesn't completely cover the foam...i am afraid of messing of the fabric just in case the sharp edges cuts and tears the cloth.

They're identical in size, only difference is the bolt hole locations. Are you sure you even got 7th gen seats?

2003...my 94 metal pan didn't fit right.

94s wont work. its only 95 and up. sorry

Are you sure they are not 96 and newer because my 95 does not have the 4 bolts on the under side of the seat cushion. They seam to be spot welded? do you know what i mean? Also the handle to move the seat back and forth is just a handle bar and does not go the entire length of the seat like the gen 7 adjustment bar does.
