tC rims paintable? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #68539 5 posts Started by SwissFerdi
Looking for new rims, and from what I've seen here in the FS/WTB section, tC rims and 7th gen rims aren't that expensive and a sure fit on our Celicas. I know that stock 6GC 5 spokes can be painted, but since tC and 7GC rims are powdercoated, I'm assuming the process of repainting is different. Would it be possible to sand and repaint (rattle can, most likely) them by hand? I'm asking because I would most likely want to have them black anyway, so being able to repaint them gives me the freedom to go for a less cherry set.

Thanks guys.

yep, did it to mine. just sad it down and follow the how-to somewhere on the forums on how to repair-paint your rims.

i used dupicolor wheel paint on mine ^_^
Awesome, that's great news. Is it really something time-consuming? I'm willing to put elbow grease into it for a good result. thumbsup.gif

...so now that that's resolved, does anyone here think I could source some from a junkyard or something along those lines? There have to be some wrecked tC's/7th gens with decent wheels somewhere.

Check your local Craigs List, you're bound to find a ton.

Just make sure you don't pay too much for them. I've seen them go as low as $200 for all 4 with pretty decent tread left on them.
