18" rims? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #682 23 posts Started by Blackcelliman
I was wondering if anyone knew if 18's will fit on a '97 without lifting the car.

i forgot who it was but someone on celica. net is rolling on 18's, i dunno if hes here on 6g.net
Lots of people on here have 18" rims, and I've never heard of anyone having any problems with them fitting(Except I saw one Celica with a 4" drop and 18s, and it said that he has trouble with his tires rubbing often when he turns.) Here's a pic of an 18" rim on a sixth generation Celica with a 2" drop:

So 18's on stock springs....no rubbing??

Definitely, as long as you get 40 series or lower sized tires. Anything larger and your speedometer is not only going to be really far off, but I'd imagine that you're also going to have the chance of rubbing if you turn very sharp.

Those would be the Volk Racing GT-C rims. I wish I had the money for rims like that. >biggrin.gif>

18's will definately fit on the celica.....i have a 3 '' rop on my car so i used 35 series so that the tires wont rub......40 series will rub.....if i had the 40 series i would have to lift the car....and that dont look right.....
put them on and let us know how it went.
i had 19's on my celi and it was lowered around 4" or so and i didnt have no problem rubbing or anything...even pulling into places that have steep driveways.......or even u-turns.....i hope my new rims dont rub like my 19's didnt..later all

Yer! BUT what's your tyre profile/size?
LOW! i've seen pics lol...hes the one with the green and white GT with the supra tails if that jogs your memory
Yes I have seen 1exquizitcelica celica...
and yes it's awesome.
However, the point is that of course you can use 18's or 19's but you have to change the profile of your tire to like 35/30, which believe me wont be too comfortable.
thanks to u all for your compliments.......as for the tire size on the 19's they were 225/35-19 toyo proxes........ as for the 20's though i have all the confidence in the world they will fit because i saw a 97 eclipse with 20's on it with a 2" drop rolling around vegas...............but the suspension will have to be modified..........245/35-20 pirelli p-zero......later all

how wide were your rims?
the 19's were 7 1/2's and the 20's r either 8 or 8 1/2
i cant figure out what size tires to go with for my 18 x 7.5s...

225 40 18 (speedo real messed up)
215 40 18 (what i want, still messed up)..

basically i don't want a 35 series tires? i dont know what to do
ur speedo is gonna be messed up a little u cant get away from it

well, basically, what I am trying to accomplish is getting 19's on my car also. What I was worried about it the tire touching the spring seat on the strut. I have found some 19x8 and 19x9 that I want to order and put on. NOw the 19x8 are a 38mm offset to go on the front and the 19x9 are a 35mm offset. What was the offset on yours and how close was it to the spring seat...if you remeber...your help is appreciated.
god i can't wait till i get my 18s
