WTB: Red Injen 3" Coupling - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #68125 12 posts Started by DEATH
I've still been having a few problems keeping IC piping clamped at high boost levels so I took this 6" long injen coupling I've had laying around for years and used it to hit the main problem area which was the Turbo outlet/hot pipe connection. I slipped it over the 5 ply expensive coupling I had on there and clamped it in 3 places:

So this has fixed that problem rather nicely and I previously fixed all other connections in a similar fashion with the exception of the one on the cold pipe immediately to the right in the pics above. The good 5 ply coupling that I have there is simply too short [3"] to clamp in anymore than 2 spots and so now it's the one that blows off.

So here is what I'm looking for:
I need a Injen brand Red coupling with a 3" diameter [2.75" minimum inside diameter] and a minimum of 4" long but ideally a 6" long coupling would do the trick quite nicely. This will allow me enough room to slip it over the high dollar coupling I have on there and then apply 2 clamps to each side [one for the injen the other over the injen to clamp the expensive coupling underneath].
It would totally be cake if it had the Injen Logo on it like the one shown as these are the first thing you see through the hood vent before I pop the hood and obviously appearance means alot to me.

If anyone has one laying around or is willing to trade out their existing coupling for another brand +$$$ please hit me up. biggrin.gif

I use a 2.5" coupling just fine?

The problem is with the clamps though, I've snapped the bolts on boost clamps by torquing them down and they still weren't tight enough to prevent boost leak. I tried the regular cheap clamps TRIDON or NORTON seems to be the brand at auto stores and gas stations, they are no good either. The best results I've had is the original clamps that came with the 3s-gte (with the throttle cable hook).

Matt if you call injen they can ship you a 3"dia 5" lg red coupler with injen in pretty letters to a local dealer for 15$ maybe to ur house? (Not 100% sure), situation came up for me and my SRI becuz the kids screwed up my order.

Toyota OEM clamps are FTW - that's sealing every hard to reach area I have [you may be able to see some of them]
Wrong spot tho BTW - I'm trying to seal the coupling to the DS of the Turbo coupling on the cold pipe

Death is that a standard Turbo from the 3sgte? 2.75 inch inside is a bit big isn't it? I read in the OC that it's 52mm which is 2 inches.
It is but I'm using a much smaller diameter coupling as the primary seal
The injen coupling is a secondary seal [Remember that unlike the 3rd gen 3s-gte and newer - the 2nd gen is AFM based and will not run without a sealed vacuum on all intake lines - this is designed to get me home in the case of a loss of primary seal]
Works great on the spots I have done this way
