Hood design ideas? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #68048 21 posts Started by Marchius
Hi,

After 7A-FE swap to 3-SGTE there are some difficulties with hood. Now there are 3 points where engine touches hood or distance is very minimal. So, there are two solutions:
1. Put GT-4 hood
2. Make custom hood using the one what I have.

This should solve 2 problems:
1. Increase distance between engine and hood at certain points
2. Increase engine ventilation.

I wonder to go for custom hood and would like to ask you some help. Maybe you have some photos and can post it here with nice 6gc custom hoods? Need some ideas how to make it.

Here is mine celica:

Google is your friend if you know how to use it properly tongue.gif (what's funny is half the Google hits are just hits off of 6GC anyway)

do a full custom job by combining different hood for different cars.

a small example was when DG put the subaru scoop on the Gt-4 hood

edit: the second pic player posted looks like the rx-7 hood with the gt-4 scoops

You are indeed correct, it is a RX7 vented center section on a GT4 hood.
The bumper is Varis
Thank you for your suggestions.

Waiting for more pictures smile.gif

omg.. i've got the tools to do this.. looks very unique.. one of a kind.. since i've already drill holes on my hood to install the hood spoiler.. i'll definitely look into this.. maybe my next project!!.. hehe
It is surprisingly easy...just make sure you take your time when you make your cuts. Rather than rely on just sticking the mesh, try to use the metal clips as well as backup!

Looks good but this wouldn't solve all problems. I think to try GT4 hood.
