Removing stock amp - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #67380 10 posts Started by reko
I've managed to unplug my stock oem amplifier (from a GT-S) from the two connectors but there seems to be 3 bolts (2 on driver side and 1 on passenger side) that needs to be removed in order to take it out...

I gotta change it since it has burned and i hate driving for half an hour twice a day without music... but i can't find how to remove the god damn plastic that goes from the dash (it starts near the climate controls) all the way down to the floor and surrouds the shifter knob... i removed every single plastic except the dash and this one... and cant find anything...

Pic is from a JDM but still, its the same thing i'm talking about

Any infos or tips anyone on how to remove it?
1. Unclip cable from valve (pic) on the firewall (temperature dial cable). Tie the end of the cable to a string/wire so if it gets pulled in, you can pull it back out.

2. Unclip the blue cable (fan speed selector) in the driver foot well (pic)

3. Disconnect the 2 connectors on the back of the climate control module.

4. Slightly pull out the climate control (not all the way).

5. Cut the lower bar of the center console (right below the climate control module).

6. Slide the cruise control module through the slit you cut in Step 5 so that the module can exit out of the shifter hole on the center console.

7. Pull out the center console.

8. Remove the 3 10mm bolts holding the amp.

**you don't need to do Step 4 to 6 if you choose to pull out the entire climate control module including the cables entirely out of the car.

Are you talking about just the piece around the shifter? Just grab the bottom of the leather boot, under the plastic by the center console and pull up. It just snaps right out. Then pull it back away from the radio (this takes a bit of force). Then there are two screws under that piece, remove those, and then pull that top piece out too. It's that simple. Remember to disconnect the cords for your cig lighter, the light ring around it, your emergency flashers, and your clock.
I removed mine without taking out much but the main front panel.

yeah you just go through the hole and up the passanger side footwell... you do not need to remove the plastic... i think i did however remove the A/C controller.... the blue wire is not the fan speed selector smile.gif don't waste your time taking out the plastic

Breaking Axles...
you can remove it without taking the plastic, but youll end up having lots of scratches....
