Convertible boot cover - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #67051 11 posts Started by dgbldr
I've never seen one in person. Is it a hard plastic shell or a soft vinyl piece? Is there more than one kind (OEM/aftermarket, etc.) ?

Where did you get it and how much did you pay?

Does it fit well and how long does it take to put on?

Thanks
When sitting in the back seat you should see little snaps along the side...those snaps is what the boot cover snap onto. So its pretty easy to put on. I want to say they are semi hard...if that makes sense. Cant tell you where to get one. I am looking for one and cant find it anywhere.
VERY hard part to find these days, they were sparsely available about 4 years ago on ebay and they would sell between 150-350 used and toyota wants about 1100 new :S

I've got one that I will sell.
The one on eBay for $125 didn't get any bids, so apparently it's worth less than that.

Just curious, is anyone using one of these? Or is it too much trouble putting it on and off every time?
It's an incredible pain to put on and take off every time you want to close/open the top. It's heavy, takes up a lot of space, and doesn't even look nice. It adds extra bulk to the rear (as if our convertible tops didn't stick up enough when retracted). I still have mine, but I've probably only used it once.
I absolutely love my boot cover. Gives the car a nice clean look. It definitely isn't hard to put on, besides you can leave your top down over night, if you know it's not going to rain. The longest I've ever had mine down was 11 days. Though I wish we had an automatic tonneau cover that would have closed over the top, like the BMW 3-series, Saab 900, Volvo C70, or Mercedes E-Class of the same years our convertibles were made. But also thank god our tops don't stick up like 3 feet in the air or have a sloppy boot cover like the Jaguar XJS.

Though a hard top would have been FANTASTIC!

That picture really deceived me at first, had to do a triple take.

Who's up for making this happen? =P
Due to the convertible no longer existing, I'll be selling my hard cover ASAP.
Does anyone know if the boot cover from a 5th gen will work on ours? A guy locally is selling one for $35 but it is from a 1993...
