Can somebody identify this engine? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #66755 26 posts Started by conus00
Swapped into 94ST Clica allegedly from Corolla. I'd like to know what engine it is because the ECU wasn't swapped and the car is SOOOOO lazy.
Thanks!
Sorry for crappy cell pics.

Ok. Thanks for help!

could be a 4afe or 5afe also, they both look nearly identical to the 7afe. run the vin on the engine to see what it came from.

its a 7afe no doubt about it
there'll be a plate on the firewall, usually just above and to the right of the injector

He is asking because it has been swapped. The badge on the firewall is useless.

yeh and what i mean by that is use the number off the firewall. type it on google and compare the images you get to your engine bay. that way youll be sure what you have

The number on the engine says: Z40619588
How do I look it up?

It is a 7afe. There is no doubt about it. The intake manifold and valve cover are a dead giveaway.

yes, the last one is mine before i put on the header laugh.gif

to the OP, there is a VIN plate on the engine itself. its below cylinder 4 above the oil pan and right next to the trans bell housing. and while you're looking, if you see a 2 part oil pan (steel lower pan and aluminum upper pan) then its a 7A-FE. thats pretty much what seperates the 7A-FE from the other xA-Fx engines.

whether or not it's a 7afe or 4afe, they're both slow as hell in any form without a turbo or other fun stuff like that tongue.gif
