wanna get rid of the bump in trunk - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #66687 13 posts Started by geetje
I'm getting annoyed with that large bump in my trunk where my spare wheel is.
I can't put my tools or groceries iin the trunk without having to search for scattered groceries when I'm home.

Is it wise to get rid of the spare wheel or should I put in a "space saver"?
Is there even a 16" space saver on the market?

Hmm I know where you're coming from on the stuff being everywhere part lol. As for getting rid of the spare wheel and putting in space saver, I'm not quite sure if that's the best idea. I've often thought about doing that in the past but you never know when that flat tire is gonna show its face and you don't have a spare with you kindasad.gif

A "space saver" is a very thin tyre just so you can drive home or to a garage, so I would have a spare with me I just can't drive very far with it.

ST205's have space savers, ditched mine in favour of a tin of tyre weld to get me to a garage.

Oh I completely misunderstood you then lol sorry kindasad.gif. Now that I know what your talking about I would say that sounds like a better idea haha
What sizes are there for space saver tires?
I have 205/55/16's, is there a 16" space saver available?
What is the width of the tyre?

I live in the Netherlands, but I don't know if it is legal to have them on my car.
Maybe if someone from the Netherlands can tell me....

Off Course it's legal. I've also got the ST205 space saver wheel as a spare tire, like the one in the Ebay auction. I'd say: go get it.

I just figured that they all came with small spares.

you should also tie up your grocery bags when you put them in your trunk
but yeah space savers is the way to go
You guys get full size spares? I've had 3 jdms they've all had oem space savers. GT4's one doesn't sit flush with the floor of the boot like the SS-III's did, I think the fuel tank is underneath the spare tyre well.

If you get the oem space saver, get the securing bolt and nut and the wooden cover for it too
