I just finished installing my suspension. After a few miles of driving on crazy bouncy roads my suspension started clunking!!! So what i installed was the sleeves by cutting the old cartrdiges out of the stock set up. Well i noticed there was some play so i stuffed it with some rubber. Im guessing after the rubber pieces came off the car started clunking. Has anyone had this problem? How can i make it so my suspension stays put?

KYB GR2's (back is compplete strut front is cartridge)
cant find the link from koni atm ill post later

Huh? How did you cut the cartridges out of the old struts? I removed mine with a large vice grip holding the nut and turning the strut.
I notice that you will have play if you don't align the strut at the top to your mounting plate correctly. Do you have konis or GR-2? pictures plz. Im starting to get lost.
didnt i tell you to let someone who experienced do this???
Lew why pay someone when i can do it? if anything i should have bought the complete strut. Either way its too late for that now. I know a few others have done there suspension this way and im hoping they can shed some light on how to fix it so i dont have to go buy the complete strut.

wheres the pic of the strut housing?
heres the housing its still in my car. I might weld the old piece i cut off to the strut assembly.

/fayl cant return them anymore they are scrapped like crazy now...sigh
I'm kinda confused. Did you cut off the large nut on the top of the housing? If so, that's not good. The nut holds the cartridge inside the housing. A piece of rubber isn't going to hold it. I could be wrong though....
nah my car didnt have a nut on top. It appeared to be a enclosed strut.
you had sealed struts. were they even blown?? why would you weld a top back on? id say you have 2 options now...buy the whole strut or buy some non-sealed ones and use your inserts. better off buying the whole strut and reselling the inserts since they both cost the same
Well there's your problem... there is nothing holding the strut in place. If yours didn't have the nut it's not rebuildable. You need the whole strut assembly.

EDIT: Lew beat me to it.

I agree im a mechanic and have delt with these you need that nut to hold the actual shock inside the strut by memory you will need to get new strut housings for the shock all its din is bouncing inside whats left of the strut with no shock absorbtion at all
