So i decided to put the normal size tire where the spare tire goes (the one that came with the car), the 14 inch rim with 185/70 size tires where my old donut spare tire used to be. So it sticks out obviously. Being tired of having everything on an uneven level in the trunk i decided to make this with the help of my dad. I saw some other members with a hard plastic that goes around the tire but i wanted a flat surface throughout the whole trunk floor. so i made this:

Just paint it or put your carpet on top of it if it will still fit. Just something to make it blend in with all the black in the trunk, and I think you're set

Not very much. My dad and I do a lot of woodwork. Looks like 3/4" OSB and some 2x4's ripped in half? I'd say between 10 and 15 pounds. Extra weight, yes, but not enough to affect anything and I'd say it's worth it to have a full size spare.

looks great.. but does it jump and clunk when you go over a bump? since it isn't clamped down to anything.
i made one for mine except mine was designed to cover the spare tire well, not the entire floor. i drilled a hole through the center and i used the existing spare tire clamp to keep it from jumping/clunking.

I do still have the carpet that goes on the back i just didnt cover it so i could show you guys how it fits. I say maybe like 10-15 pounds max like richee said. As you can see that the board it made out of all different types or wood. It wasnt expensive at all, cost me like $10 to make. No it does not jump around at all. Even when i go over speed bumps or little ditches in the road, it stays in place. Although i think i still need one more support in the middle becuase if i push with my hand where it covers the tire it will go down a little but other wise it works really well.

Did you just trace the carpet to make that or how did you shape it to fit like that?

hey bseaman_5, well ya we took out the carpet traced it with pencil then outline with sharpie and cut out the shape. Then sanded the corners. And then the little supports that hold it up, some are 3 inches and 2.5 inches. took me like an hour and a half. to do. It took patience cause at first some of the sides rubbed agains the plastic so i took it out and cut it and then sand again. until it was where i liked it. Thanks for all comments.

Only reason i was able to have that spare was cause my bro got in an accident like 3 years and blew out the front left tire and bent the left fender. So it got a new left fender and the rims lip was bent a little and got new tire.

So thats how i actually got my celica cause my bro wasn't even allowed to drive the car he was in some sorta trouble, and he crashed the car that night when my parents weren't home. So i have to say im kinda glad he crashed the car cause thats how i got my celica. I know weird stuff.
