7afe spark plug wire recommendation - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #63857 14 posts Started by windowlicker
i did a quick search, but it seemed like people more with issues than what plug wires are recommended. not looking to invest a lot into the car, but still would like to get something that isn't going to be a headache either. also, where is a good place to order parts for the 6g? i'm used to other forums that have a vendor's section and already knowing where to look for other cars. the 6g seems to be a little harder to find parts for, especially the 7afe engine.

thanks in advance. oh and what plugs seem to work best with the 7? i remember having a heyday with a nissan 300zx tt that hated anything but the ngk's you could get from the dealer and an srt4 that wasn't too fond of anything but champion platinums.

I woulds recommend only Denso (your stock wires) or NGK...

No more replicas... This is evolution... This isSS-four:)________[Featured Celica of 6gc.net @ 2010]_________
Hey well im not sure what exactly performance spark plugs do or if we even need them on a 7afe engine since its not a performance oriented engine. But here are some trd wires from japan. It takes like 3 weeks for shipping by the way.

holy sh*t those are pricey! i was looking to spend around $50. i know this car is not going to be fast, thats why i don't want to invest much money into it, hell i bought it for $700. i just want to replace parts to have it run good.

may just check out the ngk wires and plugs.
any input on the best bet for spark plugs and what gap?
NGK Platinum; I didn't have to gap mine, they were already correct. Whatever factory specs are for the gap, go with that. NGK wires too - you can get them cheaper on Amazon; I saved about $23 on them that way and they still arrived the next day eve w/super saver free shipping.
I got the Magnecor.. (http://www.magnecor.com/)

yay! so i pulled my plugs out to see what condition they were in, and they weren't bad, but i discovered that the grommets that seal the valve cover from the holes for the spark plugs are leaking oil down into the spark plug holes for the #1 and #2 cylinders. after seeing that, i will try and get a new valve cover gasket and new grommets as well, but then i also got the idea to spray paint the valve cover while i have it off. we'll see how ambitious i get tomorrow after i get done installing the rally light bar and the 4 hella 500's. should be a pretty full day.

thanks for the info, will check out amazon for what they have.
dont buy cheap wires online.
go to www.partznet.com search for wires for your car, and bring that price to your local toyota dealer, and buy OEM wires.

Amazon is just a gateway to retailers that sell the NGK wires - I bought the NGK wires for my car through Amazon for $23 less than I could get them locally. I wasn't suggesting to by cheap-o off brand wires.

agreed, there are some things you can be cheap about, but things that effect how your car runs are not something to take a chance on. i will be going with the ngk's.
woot!!!1

got the new ngk's put on the car last night, no mas misfire! also the blue wires kinda make it look like i'm adding performance parts to the car.....too bad people will get the wrong idea that i actually want to try and make the 7afe faster.
I have the same Engine and i have the same problem finding parts for it.. but as far as the plugs i recomend E3's plugs.. they help me alot with my car.. they are a lil expensive but is worth it! i luv them.. and if u find any place where u can buy performance parts for the 7afe let me know,im tryin to find some too..

good luck
