Valve Cover Gasket - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #63787 8 posts Started by Rook
Alright my Celica's valve cover is leaking. I'm wanting to see if i can change it over the thanksgiving break since i'm always busy otherwise. But...i'm not sure how to do it. So...thats where help comes in. tongue.gif
Its real easy. Pop off the valve cover, you do this by removing the 4 nuts that sit in the recess where the spark plug wires sit. Then pull off the cover, a slight smack with a mallet should work fine. Clean you mating surfaces, slap a new gasket on, and use rtv (or fipg...depending on who you ask) on the humps (you'll see what I mean). Put valve cover back on and torque the nuts. Also there is a spark plug grommet, make sure the tabs (or arrows) are pointing towards the alt. Not sure why though.....
Also do a search, as Im sure almost everyone has had to do this at one point or another. G/L.
ha really funny... cause i just replaced my gasket today... but yea, be sure to replace the spark plug gromets. they get worn....
