Paint n' tint - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #63557 5 posts Started by 96bluevert
I got a new(used) quarter window to replace the cracked one on my car right now. However, since it was used from a salvage yard, it has yellow paint (the type used on windows often) and the car it came off of must have had tinted windows, b/c there's tint on it.

Does the paint just wash off? And how hard would it be to remove the tint by myself/ or how much would it cost (about) to have the tint taken off at a shop?

the paints not hard to take off. and the tinting isn't hard either. You can goto autozone, etc and get some spray that helps soften the glue between the tint and the window, if you get what i'm talking about. Then just take a razor and goto town

Yup if the paint is like the window chalk stuff they sell in walmart it comes of with soap n water, if its been on there for a little while it requires a bit of scrubbing.

The window film can come off with soaking the glass some ammonia and sticking it out in the sun. Then scrape off. biggrin.gif

Good to know...I really didn't feel like paying to have the tint taken off kindasad.gif

Using amonia hmm..? Something I never would have thought of.

just take a razor blade to it...it'll take everything...the paint should just peel off...no big deal
