well at my job we took Sean Conry out the equation. We all had so much respect for him , he wins by default. All other bonds are up for argument.

[TeamNJCT
pierce would win cause hes has finese(idk how to spell that),the new bond would loose cause jason is a beast at hand to hand combat.

BANNED. for life, you moron.
If both are at it without fancy gadgets, I'd put all my money on Jason Bourne.

Other wise, I'm sorry... gadgets win.

I had the same question in my mind yesterday during my way back from cinema (Quantum of solace of course biggrin.gif). I think would be fair comparing only Craig as a Bond (not previous actors) because pre-Craig Bonds are just un-comparable (IMHO)... still I do not know why... Bourne would be slightly better smile.gif

Speaking from the perspective of the Bourne books (the movie plotlines more or less only covered about half of the first book and ignored the whole basis of the "identity" issue)....

Bourne was an identity taken on by a man who was a highly trained diplomat (spoke French and a few dialects related to Vietnamese), who lost his family to a random bombing and due to the emotional trauma turned himself into a commando in a very black, behind-the-line unit in Vietnam. He was a guerilla, described by his men as a killing machine in the jungles, but his greatest skill was his chameleon-like ability in terms of both being invisible, and being taken for someone he was not. The purpose of taking on the identity of Jason Bourne was to challenge the world's greatest assassin of the time, and in so doing draw Carlos out to where he could be taken in -- or taken out.

Bond would set a trap. Bourne would be able to beat that trap, by virtue of his background. Or to put it another way, you'd see Bond coming. Delta's prey never saw him.
Bond would make a move on Bourne haha

I will compare to Casino Royale (CR) only...

- I like more CR
- Marc Forster (director) is trying to make it "artistic" all the time (I mean he compose scene as piece of art to show he is more an artist not action movie director... I hope you know what i mean smile.gif )
- Bond is even less "Bond" than in CR...
- camera and action is too fast... (not providing an easy orientation what has happen)

so... I'm bit disappointed according to expectations.

note: I have enjoyed the most opening scene chase because I have been on that place!!! biggrin.gif . Yes my car (and me) has been at the same place where James Bond is driving his Aston Martin wink.gif

This seems to be the sentiment. I liked Casino Royale a lot, but this movie is almost an hour shorter with like you said an "artsy" director.

Is it worth going to see or should I wait for the rental?

I like borne... but i've never seen all of the bond movies frown.gif

But borne's chick was pretty hot biggrin.gif

I have read (not sure how true it is at this point) but there is talk about a 4th move, the Webb Identity, where they go detail on how David Webb becomes Jason Bourne. It would be a prequel, I hope this does come to be. In the Last movie they did touch on how he was basicaly brain washed to be a killing machine.

If there's a fourth movie, it'd be a complete trashing of the whole point of the Bourne identity crisis.

Ludlum's original design was believable and understandable; the reason the amnesiac didn't like who Jason Bourne seemed to be was because the amnesiac didn't know Jason Bourne was a cover identity; actually, Ludlum set the crisis up as sort of a three-phase design.

Phase 1: dedicated family man and diplomat, David Webb
Phase 2: trauma of seeing his family killed by unknown fighter plane pushes him to seek revenge, resulting in deadly commando, Delta
Phase 3: Delta, lacking purpose with the war over, agrees to join a U.S. government operation -- Treadstone -- to pose as an up-and-coming assassin, using the name Jason Bourne (Bourne was actually a man Delta had executed during Vietnam)

The books take place after the memory loss, which includes forgetting the emotional trauma of losing his family -- so you end up with the persona of David Webb trying to navigate in the made-up identity of Jason Bourne.

The first book was great, the latter two not as good. I'm very wary of a fourth, which Universal has announced. The major issue I saw with the movies were just how dumbed-down they became, literally in the case of Marie. She went from a high-ranking economist within the Canadian government whose approval was sought by banks worldwide and who helped regulate world financial markets to a flower-child who didn't know how to duck.
Who would win in a fight? Rico Suave or John Secada?

C'mon........ Please.

Oh! I got one! Who would win in a fight? Don Knotts (3's company days) or Christopher Walken (Now)? Ppffftt lol

91 MR2 Turbo SW20, 92 MR2 Turbo SW20, 95 Celica GT ST204
Is anyone really willing to get into a fight with Christopher Walken? If there's a face that'd make me lose my nerve...
Christopher Reeve vs. that handicapped smart guy on Family Guy.
bourne for sure

The only thing the movies have to do with the books is the title. So by making a fourth movie (which there will be) won't do anything to the point of the books because they are so far from what the books were.
