Topic #62925 33 posts Started by Legit94GT
So i work nights and my car sits out at night and she gets colds:(

So do my hand when i have to drive her home in the morning frown.giffrown.gif and winter is just starting...

Has anyone put a heated steering wheel in a celica? Pics?

Why don't you just get heated gloves instead?

Do heated steering wheels even exist?
yes, in some luxury cars.. too lazy to search the cars that have this feature....

Wouldn't it be more efficient to get heated seats, or to rip the existing ones apart and fashion some using heated pads?

Do that and crank up the heat in the morning, sounds like a better solution.
Uh get some gloves...

winter gloves makes steering difficult.. although it solves the issue for cold fingers.

you might want to try using driving/racing gloves.

I've found mechanix gloves to be good for driving as well, I also have a pair of Nike gloves ( tennis ) that I love to drive with during winter time.
no knowledge on the topic. so my suggestion...use icey hot tongue.gif

i used to have a pair of Nike running back (football) gloves that i used for driving.. if you ever see a pair of these at a sporting good store, you have to try 'em!

My logic = How warm are these gloves when you are outside scrapping that snow and ice from the car during winter while the car is heating up? laugh.gif

not very good in extreme temperatures.. but i figured since he's in the US, he only suffers from the cold of mild winters (and not frostbites like it is here wink.gif )
i only used my nike gloves in the fall/spring when it got a little chilly. they have so much grip i can literally steer with one finger..

haha.. heated steering wheel.. good idea.. but what if you go over board and burn your hands..

tttsssssssssss... pass the BBQ sauce?? tongue.gif

^_^
Well turning on my heat when i just turned on my car is awesome, if i want cold air, the car needs to warm up a bit first(thinking about getting remote start just for that reason)

I just wanted to see what was out there, i did some searching yesterday but then i got tired and fell asleep lol

Heated seats would be very nice as well:) now what car cna we steal some out of and put in the celica?
Didnt the celica have heated seats as an option?

on days where my car frezzes over while i am scrapinf off the ice my car and me warm up, but right now it is just getting right above frezzing point so my car still get down in the 30s or 40s but it doesnt freeze. I live 2 miles from my work and am not a fan of staying at work in the parking lot for 10 mintues waiting for my car to warm up and get some hot air blowing, i can be home before that happens lol

Hey Legit I've been lookin at theses for awhile. heated seats I was goin to get this before winter but now it looks like maybe this spring.
Dont know about the heated steering wheel. I bet if you found one you would be paying through the roof for it.
In California, we just hope your steering wheel don't burn you.

I'm also endeavoring for heated seats - my g/f's Jetta has them and I really LOVE them. As for the steering wheel, maybe just get a cloth steering wheel cover for the winter. Or one of those giant bushy sheepskin ones LOL

Actually since we're in the PNW, you might want to think about making a custom steering wheel cover out of terrycloth or chamois, something that's mad absorbant ha ha ha

My LS has heated seats and it's a '93 so maybe you can find one of those easily? I can get to work quicker than my Celica's heater starts to work.

remoted starter FTW !

at my last job, I could be all the way on the other side of the plant, around 1/4 mile and start my car all the way from there, by the time I get de-gowned and dressed my car was like a hot cake.
co-workers hated me for that lol

about the gloves, I'll see if I try those for running backs, I play tennis, so try those gloves was a cheap an easy experiment, I don't use them to walk outside or anything like that, is just to drive, so I don't feel the cold steering wheel.
I have gloves... I just found them...

But now i am thinking heated seats sound way better:)

My pet peeves of cold weather is not cold, is waiting for the heat to defrost the front window... I'm a strong beleiver to not waste gas and idle the car biggrin.gif

I agree with those heated seats... this morning, especially. Cold morning!

I'm all over those inserts just as soon as I can afford them. I can't wait! I was even scoping out the dash this morning on my way to work, trying to decide where to put the controls (I want to do both seats)

Where are the switches on the (euro?) versions that had them stock?
On the topic of heats steering wheel -

Snowmobiles have heated grips that run on a low voltage system (12v or less) - perhaps they could be adapted to your steering wheel or maybe a tight fitting cover that can be removed during the non cold months?

Just an idea that I thought of when I seen your post and was surprised it hadn't been brought up. I think I will take a look at the heaters/handles on my snowmobile tonight - I think I might try that.... great idea LOL

Not only am I extremely jealous that anyone would have heated seats for their Celica, but as far as the steering wheel goes, my friend has a BMW 550i and it has a heated steering wheel. It's cool, but I don't think someone is going to swap a steering wheel from a BMW anytime soon.
^^^^ Link doesnt work for me^^^^

Anyone buddy have a part number for those switches? i'd love to wire up the heated seats to those and make them look OEM

thanks
