Full Service Consists of ... - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #62890 18 posts Started by rasta
Hi guys,

what consists in a full service as opposed to a basic service?

Also I am aware that oil filters, spark plugs are changed, is there anything else to clean out/ replace/ re fluid especially for the Celica?

I am new to this having only had my car for the last 2 weeks and i want to iron out any maintenance issues.

thanks
if it s the stock air box, some people like to change out the filter.... or clean the short ram
Full service comes with "Happy-Ending" laugh.gif

Seriously, read the ind. shop's service menu's, as they're interpretation can sometimes be different.

Transmission fluid
inspect joints/bearings (replace as needed)
inspect brakes (replace as needed)
oil and oil filter
air filter
spark plugs
Cap and rotor
brake fluid
clutch fluid
coolant flush
I think he wants to do it himself [And I don't mean that as a continuation of your joke tongue.gif ]

Do the list:
4 qts approx of oil
Oil Filter
Check coolant
Check PS fluid
Check Tranny fluid if applicable
Spark Plugs
Spark Plugs Wires
Distributer Cap
Distributer Rotor
[I like to replace the coil with an MSD Blaster 2 or similar at the same time cause they are cheap]
Check Brake pad wear
Check rotor thickness and trueness

I'm sure I'm forgetting all kinds of stuff but this will get you started.

As i said before; make sure you read the shop's menu, as different shops do different services. Playr'll give you an air filter. I'd give you a beer. Death would recommend turbo parts, and griff would give a T-Shirt with a hellica emblem laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

And this is the reason that everyone wants your help on their cars death rolleyes.gif you know all this stupid trivial stuff on these Celica's (not to mention your fair share on anything else with an engine in it)... like last week when you took the wild guess at what size/thread bolt the seats take and miraculously grabbed it first try laugh.gif have you ever replaced a seat bolt? Seriously? why would you know the threading size?

laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif because it's sadly true rolleyes.gif

you know manual trannies come with a nice hole to check the level?

new guys can ask how to check both types wink.gif
I didn't see that anybody listed this so-

I commonly check the level of the fluid/acid in the battery [if you have a battery with the removable covers]
and if the levels are not equal or somewhat low I add distilled water to them.

I was always taught to do this, don't know if anyone else does, but counts as maintenance to me.

kindasad.gif I bought a new battery for my Altima about 3 months ago and it still has caps to check the batt-water... So does my shop's electric forklift. (granted it uses ALOT more battery power than our batteries, but still...) but I guess now that it's 2009; we should all have a little more faith in our batterys.
