OUCH! I'm not sure if my teeth are chattering from it but it seems like my brain's bouncing around!

Is there anything I can do to help get a midly softer ride? Are there are certain type of tires or PSI that I could still maintain traction but get at least a mildly softer ride?

I was looking at Goodyear ComforTreads but I was unsure if the traction would counter the whole idea of getting more control with an upgraded suspension. I thought perhaps a lower PSI (like 30?) may help with a softer ride but again, I don't want to lose too much traction.

What about, sometime next year probably, upgrading to coilovers?

Any ideas? I was quite shocked after feeling how things changed.

Look into getting a slightly thicker tire.

Lowering your PSI under the recommend value would kill your gas mileage though.

GotToyota, do you have any recommendations for a thicker tire?

RickJamesBish, I was thinking that may be an issue as well. I believe the recommended for our cars is 32psi? Right now that is what I have them filled to.

35. I highly doubt 1 or 2 PSI would matter, but if you're gonna use this as a daily it's more economical and safer to properly inflate the tires.

Thicker tires does help a lot.

what size tires do you have. that would be a good start for us to figure what you can run.

My last set were 215/40-17




And then I wanted more comfy ride so I went for 225/45-17 for the current set of tires. Looks like donut but the comfy ride is worth it.

I agree, I have 225/45/17's on my TC wheels and I love it.

You think Sportlines are uncomfortable?!? I highly suggest you NEVER consider using any other drop spring then - Sportlines are really comfortable - try TEINS if you want bumpy/uncomfortable.
Perhaps you have 18" wheels or old struts? I'd think those were more your issue and the drop just made it more obvious?

yea you are over looking what could be your key possibility.....springs on oem struts is not a good idea, much less old oem struts. Did you replace them when you did the springs?
I've driven a sportline car and its not that bad

i got kyb gr2 w/ sportlines and using 215-40-17 tires... i am definitely gonna get thicker tires nxt time... the roads where i live r horrible... i hv to avoid some of them completely... actually even my stock sienna has a hard time taking some of these roads

but if i am on a regular road, it's not too bad

lol i wish this topic was bought up before i went ahead and bought my 215/45/17 for my TC rims =(. The road in boston are full of cracks/bumps/and pot holes.... I try to avoid them but sometime it's just aint possible. On my stock 15with bald tires, it feels like my car will fall apart whenever i go over anything.... and ffs i got the KYB/Tiens setup... maybe it's time to invest in some sportline =/

im ridin on teins with kyb fronts and bilstein rears on 215/45r17s and its a little harsher then stock but its not too bad. and concidering the roads here in vegas are never NOT under construction i was a little scared to even do the drop but its been about 8 months and everything is holdin up pretty good.

i'm on (quite possibly) the stiffest coilovers under $2k on the lowest setting.. and i'm lovin' it.

yeah but some people like the feel of a nice stiff car. i put about 300 miles a week on the celi so a ride like that would drive me insane

x2. I had Sportlines on my car, and although they were firmer than stock, I was the only one who ever noticed. Any time any of my friends got in my car who didn't know anything about it, they never noticed the ride being rough at all.

There's the reason I got rid of my Eibach's. My front struts were fine and gave a great ride. However, my rear struts were blown and rode pretty bad. I couldn't afford new struts when I bought my Eibach's and I knew they'd ruin my OEM struts, but just didn't care enough and thought I'd invest in KYB's before anything got too bad. But that didn't happen. I had those springs maybe 2 months but by the time I got rid of them, my rear struts couldn't hold themselves up at all. But with my good struts up front, the ride was nice and comfy
