I want to purchase a new steering wheel for my St Celi. I really like the steering wheel for the 99 celica gt. the part where the airbag fits in the middle of the steering wheel is much smaller. Or is it the same one on the 6th generation gt-four steering wheel. I asked the guy from the toyota dealer if a 7th generation wheel would fit the 6th generation and he said no and he also said the 7th generation wheel was $500 damn thats alot. I dont want to get an aftermarket steering wheel with no airbag. What would fit on my car??

there are a few people who have converted to a 7th gen steering wheel and were able to get the airbag setup fully functional...

Well if you have connectors from your old and new wheel you can swap connector from the clockspring and its fine.
Then you just need to reset your airbag light.

Yeah but something about the wire pairs being different, what if it say,.... honks your horn on impact?

Well after you do the wiring try to honk your horn and see if you get an airbag instead
Seriously tho - it's not hard to get it right but there are some differences in the connectors inside [It'll be different with different wheel/Celica model combinations] but above all be safe - do your research and be careful in your wiring and youll be cool. I have some pics that may help you from when I changed my wheel. PM if you need to see things [BTW - My combination was 94' GT style to roughly '99 Rav 4 wheel]
