Optima batteries? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #61493 9 posts Started by Rizer
Any one have any experiece with Optima batteries?
We are planning to buy a "Blue top" because of the extra terminals.

I've had one redtop for years [Pretty much since right after they came out - or at least after I heard of them]. It's a badass battery. Is it the be all end all of batteries we used to think they are? Probably not. Is it light years away from the old style batteries - definetly. And since they are so cheap now [around $125 on sale] I say they are totally worth it. biggrin.gif

...But I think that the Blue Tops are mainly for Marine equipment if I'm not mistaken? IDK
I have YellowTop, great!!!!
Blue top should be exactly like yellow but with extra terminals, and yes, blue ones are used for marine equipment.

I know Blue and yellow ones are Deep cycle, not so the red ones.
I have now been talkin to Optima in Norway, and they recomend only the YELLOW one for carstereo use.

Optima

I got a yellow top, have NEVER once had a problem with it. I say go for it, especially if you have a system. oh and its got extra terminals on the front side which work out great for giving your amp its own individual connection. or you can do like me and buy a rockford fosgate battery terminal that replaces the stock one (gives extra port for your amps)

Yep, as max-elle said, theres no difference between the yellow and blue top, except for the extra terminals. Both are also almost the exact same price, the blue being a few dollars more (literally a few dollars though smile.gif)

I had 2 yellow tops.. 1 went back after 8 months.. the other after 2 months...

I then got a Red top, so far so good... the other day it got drained.. not sure why.. but it seemed to charge up and be fine now... but the Red top has a MUCH better warrenty.
