Tranny leak questions - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #60562 12 posts Started by supra12big
Okay, so my tranny has been leaking out of this spot for a while, its a e153 in my 3sgte swap. Anyways it leaks out of my refill plug, i have no clue y, i bought a brand new one, and put it on, it still leaks for some reason, also i tighten it enough, so what should i do?
does it have a "crush washer" on it? (kinda like the oil drain bolt should have, but thicker and metal.)

most auto parts stores should have them.
you may need to bring the bolt with you to get the proper size.

Mine started doing the same thing from the drain bolt, and it does have a washer on it.
You can just back the bolt out half way and put RTV around it. At least thats what I plan to do.

same here, um still leaking with the rtv, i gonna go get a crush washer tommorow
copper crush washers work good, but both sides need to be clean and smooth. fiber washers i think work better, they'll conform to slight irregularities much better than metal ones.

if its a really bad leak, like dripping, then you need to check for some ****ed up threads or crossed threads.

ya, i just installed the copper one, still leaks slowly, i gonna buy a fiber wash next i guess, but its so werid that it still leaks
check the threads, make sure theyre in good shape and not crossed or ****ed up. the only other thing to check is that you havent overfilled the trans.
