I was wondering if we are alowed to purchase a car in canada, drive it over the border, and legally get it registered, inspected, insured and so on....gt-4's, skylines, whatever....i know we can't import from china privately i dont think but i figured since we are neighbors with canada theres gotta be something we can do...anyone that actually knows for sure please give some input on this.

no idea, but I know Canada has a 15 year registration barrier, which means in 2009, you can legally import a GT-4 into Canada and get it registered there. So maybe theres hope?

To live, is to sufferTo survive, thats to find meaning, in the suffering....
I seriously doubt it otherwise the MR-2 guys would've jumped on this.

Yes but his question was on whether there would be an exception if the car had already been registered in Canada.

ok so lets say for instance you move from canada into the US and want to bring you 5-10 year old vehicle with you? what happens then?...theres gotta be a loop hole somewhere where we can import cars from canada and legally have them registered and drivable in the U.S.

I belive there are exceptions to the 25 year rule, such as military people moving around being allowed to keep there cars bought from overseas. but a normal citisen without any of thoes exceptions, probably not, but hope I'm wrong.
I've heard of that too, and that it applies to regular citizens (sp?) too. You would have to live and work in the car's country of origin for 1 year. You could then bring it back, exempt of the 25-year rule. This would be feaseable only once in your lifetime.

I've heard it once from one of my buddies that imports cars and I wouldn't know if this also applies to the US. So at this point it should be pretty much considered hearsay until someone can verify the info.

i guess its time to move to canada for a year
Yes, it's possible. My celi is Canadian, but I live in NC

But then you'll be stuck driving with a speedometer like this... IN KILOMETERS!!!

Unless you switch the gauge faces, but then your tripometer will still be reading in Kilometers and not Miles
It took some getting use to and a lot of distance conversions in my head! laugh.gif
thats awesome...take some more pictures of your car!!....see we know we can do it now...wht i wanna know is if i can bring like 2 or 3 of them back and sell them on a lot
