Since I bought my celica 2 years ago, the inner lining of my top has not wanted to stay velcroed to the outter lining (toward the front). It's always been that if I put one of the pins (I guess you'd call them) into the hole at the top, that the other doesn't want to stay inside it's hole. Recently it's been worse b/c niether seem to want to say in, so I wind up w/ this black lining blocking my view through my rearview mirror. Doesn anyone know a fix to this? Would it be possible to just get new velcro and put it on?

I think that a new velcro strip might help. You might also try a new plastic pin as well. I'm not sure what other options you have without getting a new headliner. At least start with these, being that they are the cheapest potential fixes and if neither works, we'll have to brainstorm.

Thanks man! I'm guessing that both the pins and velcro I could just pick up at like Home Depot and any fabric store...?

I just got my pins from the dealer. They're pretty cheap, but you would probably have to wait for them as they are not likely to be in stock. Toyotaworld or Lowe Toyota could probably get them for you, too. Velcro - maybe HD, but very likely at a craft store like Michael's.

Getting the pins from the stealership..yeah, they had to have them shipped from Cali, but whatever, I can still drive for another week with it how it is. $10 for two plastic pins ..dang. Now just gotta hit up the crafts store for some velcro..Is the velcro hard to get off? it seems to be on there pretty well.

I've not had to remove it (thank God) so I cannot attest to its difficulty, but yeah, it does seem like it would be a PITA. Norberto - have you done this yet?

I guess we'll have to wait another weekish to find out b/c the people at the dealership wound up giving away the parts (or something like that) ...So they ordered two more at no cost extra cost to me (at least).

Got the new pins today, took one out and put a new one in and this is what the old one looked like:



Might be hard to see, but it was stripped pretty bad..after all that though, I tried to get the velcro back up and what I found out is that I just didn't apply enouph preassure so it would stick good. Now it seems all good, didn't bother replacing the other pin yet, but I have it in case

Although, I did notice one thing, which is that the pins still don't seem to work together. Meaning I have one in the hole, but the other isn't able to reach it's hole. More of an issue w/ the lining itself being a tad too small..? I'm guessing. Either way, I can see out my rear window now lol.

Yeah, mine don't really stay too well and they were brand new. I've gotten used to the side ones being loose. When the top is down, I never see them anyway!

I have seen packages of pins similar to those in advance autoparts. They dont have to be toyota, i guees. Now i dont see in my headliner where the velcro is. good thing i have not had need to see. however my top is giving me some issues, at least i know it will in the near future, so a change is coming. As always, this is a do it myself job!!!!
