Got this car a couple months ago, it's my first so don't hate on the ****ty rims. laugh.gif It's a '97 but only has 67k miles on it, and everything is more or less in pretty good condition.

EDIT: updated shot with the letters removed...

damn thats a great find! looks brand new and low miles. now its time to make it fast, welcome!
its a miracle

KEEPIN IT LOW... WAP PRODUCTIONS... www.myspace.com/waprod
I'm definite, unless the dealership lied.
And it definitely is, I'm really happy with it...it doesn't even have any blemishes inside, no scratches/dent anywhere, save for a small one by the fan control knob. Only has minor scratches on the bumper and right fender, but they're bothe negligible.
Im pretty sure they stopped in 95 with the STs, But it really doesnt matter, the car looks great no whatever the year is.

Really? Then it might be a GT...what are the differences between that model year ST and GT? I know the hubcaps aren't original, since the tires and rims were brand new.
they stopped making ST in 98...car looks really good!

Thanks man...if they stopped making them in '98, then it is an ST after all? I'll look it up real quick. Thanks though!
most likely it is b/c there is no emblem on the back right...that's where the "gt" badge is on our cars. Look under the hood and there should be a piece of paper on the bottom of it that says the engine's code... either 7afe (st) or 5sfe(gt).

Yeah cuz I heard Derrick has a 96 ST, plus not sure how reliable Wikiepedia is but it says they stopped making ST after 98' >>> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Celica

97 was the last year they offered the ST model. after that they changed some of the standard options on the GT like the front strut bar.

Call me a traitor! See if I care. ;)

Not really. However, they are brand new, so at least I have "nice" hubcaps and not ****ty ones. If I had the money, it would be sitting on 17's right now...

it still seemed a little unclear. that's why i posted. the 97 was the last year they produced the ST not 98.

either way i don't really care LOL

welcome to the boards though.

Ja, thanks. Regardless of what anything else says, I checked under the hood and it has the 7A-FE, so definitely an ST.

i think that they have switched the car engine sticker to make it look like a ST, thats the ONLY explanation!! haha dont worry about it mate, no biggy. i like the side-skirts, tints, and how clean your new ride is, congrats rickjamesbish
Nice car, The sunroof and tail lights look bizarre to me though, The sunroof on my old 6gc slid under the roof not over it and I just realised US kept the old school tail lights even after they changed in 1996 for our models

Wow, someone really took good care of that thing, or it appears so by the pictures. Have fun with it, and yeah get some nice rims and lower it first, if you can. wink.gif

Clearly! But the skirts are stock right? Cause I haven't done anything to it. The tint was from the previous owner, so once again, I'm lucky that they were so kind to this car.

Yeah, whoever had it previously must've loved it. I'm thinking I'll throw on rims when I can, and possibly lower too...would look sick.
idk i think those are some type of 404 skirts

BANNED. for life, you moron.
the 8th unit from the back of the vin# is the year code.... that should solve the year issue..... y is 2000 so go back in the alphabet

nope. those are the oem/ssIII skirts.
btw i wasn't doubting that your car is an ST or a 97 cuz i used to have a 97 ST. i knew from the pic of the engine bay it's just everyone else had the years wrong. also the 97 was the last year they offered the coupe model in case anyone was wondering.

Call me a traitor! See if I care. ;)
WOW! that's a great looking car. I've got a 97 ST too but, mine isn't in as good of condition as yours. All i can say is WOW!!! have fun with it.
