rotors warped as car shakes on braking? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #59319 12 posts Started by Crzybakerdog
ok so i have neglected getting pads checked so now i think my rotors are warped since the car shakes when pushing the brake pedal. Anyone know where a good deal to order rotors and probably pads is?
Brembo OEM blank replacement rotors from TireRack and OEM Toyota brake pads from your local dealer.

DO NOT get cross drilled and slotted rotors. Your brakes are too small to take away surface area by drilling holes or making slots which actually makes them less efficient.

I have tried a lot of brake pads. Metallic compound pads will make a whole lot of noise and eat away at your rotors faster and groove them. I have tried ceramic pads and they are significantly quieter for the most part, they still make noise but its a higher pitch which is why you don't hear them most of the time, but the compound is too hard and will warp your rotors again eventually. Since getting OEM replacement pads I have had absolutely no noise ever, and they have worn the rotors nice and even.

Isn't ceramic compound material what our OEM is?
Nah - OEM is organic. Hands down the best compromise between function, wear and sound for our cars.

Maybe STs have ceramic compound for OEM - I could swear I've seen ceramic recommended as OEM replacement for my car on at least tirerack.com, other sites too I think
check your calipers too just incase. i had the same problem and one of the rods on my caliper that put pressure on the pads had siezed, making constant pressure on one portion of the disc. It was the culprit for warping my rotors and causing the shaking.
stay away from axxis pads. ive had bad experiences with them, even the ceramics
depending on how bad your rotors are warped you can get them machined down at a dealership or other shop....

I think they just mean that the compound it's made of meets or exceeds OEM quality, which is what they usually mean even if it isn't true.

When the piston on the caliper seizes up, do you have to replace the whole caliper? Because I think this is what is happening to me.

i think you can get a caliper rebuild kit or something, not too familiar. From what i understand, your ability to pull the pieces of your current caliper are what make this easy or hard. But if that doesnt work you'll want to replace them.

I dont agree with that... (maybe stay away from disks both drilled and slotted but just one of the 2 I dont think takes enough surface away to hurt more then it gains) I've got cross drilled brakes and love them, far better then solid breaks, stopping distance wise and break fade wise. I deff recommend getting cross drilled as long as there a decent brand (no no-name crap) I'm using ceramic pads too and love em (there starting to whare out now but the disks are in great shape.) evenrthing depends on the brands, my disks are brimbos, my pads are raybestes ceramics (sp)
