so i have just swapped a 4age blacktop with a 4age 5spd into my 95 celi st. problem is i dont have first gear. wen i try to put it into first it ends up in third. everything else about the tranny is fine...2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, reverse... but i really wanna take it to the track so i need first. a shop looked at it and told me the bushing on the shift linkage looked all eaten so i replaced it but still same problem. should i put the shift linkage that came with the motor on? because right now i am using the shift linkage from the 7afe (which i was told would work)...is it a problem that requires a tranny rebuild of some sort? the car was shifting fine before the swap...thanks for any input.

Are you sure you don't have a 6 spd transmission? IF so u need to use tat new linkage.

Double check your shift linkages and make sure they aren't over crossing each other If they are you have them in reverse.
