FS: ST205 3SGTE Harness - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #59100 14 posts Started by Dr_Tweak
I have a complete ST205 3SGTE harness here, have had it around for a while but I'm trying to clear out some parts and whatnot, so it's up for grabs. The harness is totally complete in excellent condition, only thing missing is the black plastic around the fusebox, if you're putting this into a 6th gen Celica then you can use the one off your old harness since it's the same. If you're not putting this in a 6th gen Celica then you won't need it anyway.

Of course my wiring service is available too if anyone wants to use this harness for a wiring conversion.

Bidding starts at $250, it will go to the highest bidder. Email me at drtweak@phoenixtuning.com

RHD, I can convert it over to work in a USDM Celica if you need that done.

laugh.gif I got a kick out of that. Not because of what you said, but who you said it to.

And remember kids, if your car stalls on the freeway, do not try to restart the car tens of times in a row....

Good lord that was a long time ago....

I remember the story, but never saw a pic of it till now. Crazy.
What was the exact cause of the fire? Wiring? Fuel line?

Do you have a RHD car perhaps?

Qatar11 was one of the first guys to do a 3s swap into a 6th gen and figure out the wiring. He used to be the only guy to mail your harness to if you wanted to do a swap. He did a bunch of harness work for a few people, but ended up bailing from the scene after most of his customers had wiring issues. Many people cursed his name and demanded refunds and such, so he laid low for a while. His wiring "theory" was all correct (at least later on), but for some reason a few harnesses were done incorrectly.

Sorry, Mike. Not trying to flame you... just to catch tweak up on your story. smile.gif

@Lagos - Your kidding? For your pleasure, there are a dozen or so pictures in that link. Nobody knows the exact cause of the fire. I had been having fuel pump issues for a week leading up to the fire. But basically the car stalled driving home on the freeway and I tried probably 50 times to restart the car, until some lady honked at me and pointed to the hood where flames were lapping up over the passenger side wheel well. The fire appeared to have started in the area where the engine harness comes through the firewall, and that is where all the solder joints were for the extension to accommodate the extra length required to route the harness. AAA mounted a little fact finding investigation as they stood to shell out $12K to cover the loss of the vehicle, but could not find a definitive cause. My guess is that the extreme amounts of start attempts saturated the engine bay with fuel vapor and whatever spark or short that caused the stall got hot enough to start a little fire that fed off all the fuel vapor

@Dr. Tweak - No worries, I have been more or less a lurker in the Celica world since my car went up in 2001 ~ which actually precedes this website I think, but I may or may not be one of the first people to have swapped a 3SGTE into a Celica in the "Message Board Era" of Celica Enthusiasts.
