KYB GR-2 Struts/shocks - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #58402 10 posts Started by bseaman_5
I'm looking at getting some KYB strut/shocks and eibach lowering springs, I'm wondering if I also need to get shock and struts mounts as well?? As well as a camber kit?? I'm a newb so cut me slack.. kindasad.gif
And if there is more than that would you let me know that too??
You don't need a camber kit, but I would recommend getting new strut mounts as your taking the whole thing apart so its good to do it anyways also some new boots would be good too and make sure you get some grease too and an alignment when you settle in your springs. wink.gif

Other possible causes of popping is the rubber rubber bump stops being too long (Lesjofors 40mm springs require the front stops being shortened by 25mm) or incorrect allignment of the upper spring seat:

I had my car dropped by 40mm today with Lesjofors by a reputable shop and get popping noises from the front now when turning at slow speeds so need to investigate the cause frown.gif.

^^^ I'm pretty sure your springs are just settling in its normal if they are installed new. wink.gif

If you have After-market Rims you will need Camber kits for the front. Our cars don't have a Double wishbone supension which can be tuned like civics. So if you have a good mechanic they should be able to tell you tat they can't get your aline-ment to perfect.
get new shocks, your drop springs, top mounts, and camber kit while your at it. might as well do it once not like me. installed springs..no new shocks no new mounts.........nada.........waitin on money is all biggrin.gif you also can see if any 6gc'ers are close to you and willing to help install for the price of lunch drinks ans snacks or what not.....cuz i do that for people that know me that i see and talk to. they need something installed......they buy me lunch, drink, and snacks........in return they save loads of $$$.

Its really not hard to remove and install, you just need a spring compressor and an impact gun unless you're the Hulk and think that your muscles can overcome seized bolts and car cancer called rust. There's a how-to on this, I just finished my suspension setup. I'll be taking pics for you soon 808celica!
