car making a scraping noise - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #57831 9 posts Started by xnightsmokex
i posted this in the general discussion too, because i wasn't sure where to put it. i figured it could be something with the engine maybe?:

i have a 94 celica gt, and sometimes when im slowing down, not just pushing in on the brake, but just letting of the gas, or have the clutch pushed in all the way and coasting, my car makes a kinda of a scraping noise. it sounds like the whole car is doing it. it doesnt do it all the time though. i cant figure out what it is, and i was hoping maybe someone had it happen to them and can tell me what it is.
well i think this may help i had the same problem on my st the problem was my brakes idk what condition ur break system is in but in my case the break shoes in the rear were in terrible condition and needed to be changed and i could hear them scrapping at all time as well as when i was breaking also so maybe it is of some help kindasad.gif

funny u should say that cuz i let someone drive it and they said something about it might be the back brakes....i think ima replace them and see what happens
well awesome man i hope everything works out for you smile.gif
hmm...i checked out the back brakes and they are fine....so are the front ones....my brother checked it out and said it sounded like a bearing might be going bad in the transmission....i think he may be hearing a different noise than me
the noise i am hearing is coming from the rear.....my brother told me it is not the transmission and he doesn't know what it is, just that its coming from the rear.....maybe this has happened to someone?
wheel bearings perhaps?

Pandelica 2.0 in progress.
my car was making a weird scraping noise as well. i checked it out and it was my rear passenger side hub and bearing.. wiggle the hub.. you know its broken because its not suppose to wiggle =/

might be the same thing on yours.. hope this helps

things happen for a reason.
i agree, put the back on stands and see if the wheel will move back and forwards. if so, get your bearings replaced.

some cars it a weird pop/scrape sounds, constant scraping, squeeling, rubbing... shouldn't be too bad of a repair
