4AGZE forged pistons in a 7AFE.... - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #5744 15 posts Started by edo17982
Hi, I found 4 pistons in perfect shape out from a 1991 AE92 4AGZE engine.
I heard many times that the 4AGZE pistons fit the 7AFE (the bore is the same).
my questions are:
will I need little mods to the upper rod hole to fit the pistons?
the CR rated for those pistons is 8.9:1....now...with the 7AFE head, will this CR be the same?

Thanks to all!
Edo, you are one lucky mot******* >smile.gif> How did you find them???

out from a 1991 AE91 Levin
the stock c/r on a 7a-fe is 9.5-1 if your planning on turboing then the 4a pistons would be perfect. also, from what ive seen the pistons should press right on to your 7a rods, but im not 100% on that. by the way, if you want forged rods be prepared to pay about $700 for a custom set. hope this helps.

what are the cons of forged pistons?
I've heard that with some forged pistons you will get a little bit of knock because they swell slightly. That was with custom forged pistons for a 5s-fe though. Yours are factory made so it may not be a problem.
There is someone who know if the CR of 8.9:1 of 4AGZE pistons will be the same once fitted in 7AFE, since the head is different?
Thx >wink.gif>
You're probably going to have to check with a machine shop to be sure. If you take all your parts to them they would be able to tell you. The pistons may not work if the wristpin hole is in a different location than the 7a pistons. Assuming the wrist pin is in the same location and you're using a stock 7a head gasket then yes, you will have the benefit of the lower compression ratio given by the gze pistons.

Forged pistons do expand more than cast pistons therefore they have to run larger piston to cylinder clearances and they should be warmed up before running hard.
Thx!! >smile.gif>

does anyone know which is the wrist pin diameter in 7afe??
What about a throttle bodie from a 4age engine will that make a difference?
Even better would be quad throttle bodies!!!!! >wink.gif> >wink.gif>
