k so recently i put my car up on the lift during auto tech in high school to
identify front and back suspension and check brakes
after that i rotated my tires and put the tires back on
accidently i torque wrenched one too much
after up on the lift, when i go to 60mph my car starts shaking like it does normally at 90MPH
so im like **** and only drivee 50 mph on freeway thus getting honked or stared at....
whats the problem????
is it b/c of tires or something else?

Did any weights fall off your tires? maybe unbalanced tires?

Are you sure you tightened all of your lugnuts?

Maybe you have worn suspension parts and your tires are worn unevenly. Inspect your tires.

I used to experience the same problem, because I always bought used tires, and never properly balanced. I also shaked about 60 and up. I can almost guarantee that it's something to do with balance and/or tires. I am not sure why you are shaking even at 90. Since my new tires, i don't shake at all.

It is possible that there is a dynamic imbalance on your tires. You may have had a tire in the rear which was dynamically imbalanced to begin with, but you only noticed it at higher speeds because it was in the rear. Now that it is up front, you feel it earlier. If you're in auto tech, I'm sure they taught you the symptoms, causes and remedy for this.

how do you accidentally over torque something like lug nuts? hand tighten then use a torque wrench, especially in a class they should have one..

i would start by putting the wheels on a balancing machine.

if your car is automatic, it could be your transmission, may want to get a new one of them while you're at it. shifting into reverse goin 60 on a highway may have caused some damage.

also check your headliner as that may cause a car to shake violently above 88mph and warp the time space continuum sending you on a wild journey back to 1955 preventing your parents from meeting much like michael j fox and christopher lloyd. but its all good, you drive a celica so returning to 1985 and living happily ever after is all but guaranteed!

I agree that it's HIGHLY likely that your tires are out of balance.

It could also be that your car is out of alignment, or you have a suspension issue, and your rear tires are wearing unevenly, like cupping or wearing on the inside. After rotating those to the front, your car would handle differently and possible vibrate heavily at higher speeds.

You shouldn't be driving 90MPH ever.

I'm with everyone else sounds like a balance issue. Bring the car somewhere and have them balance their wheels. Not trying to be rude but if you don't know what you're doing with a car you should really read first and learn before you end up with a bigger problem.

k so at auto tech today
i re rotated the tires
and torqued the nuts with one click exactly
and then i took it down a road at 80mph instantly
NO SHAKING

Im having the same problem ...with brand new wheels that were just balanced and aligned. Unless the guy that mounted them didnt do a good job balancing.

I had that problem with my 17s when I had them, then I got those rigns and the problem was gone. the second time this happend, the tech who did my balancing didn't do it properly so I got my money back from them as I went back the same day and complained to the owner

Yes, i have hub centric rings.
I guess it IS possible the tech didnt do the job right.
He did mention that my rear tie rods were looking like they need replacing, so I dont know if thats contributing to the problem or not as I was having some shaking before installing the new tires too (though it seems worse now).

Car is perfectly stable at 60mph... but once you got o 75ish and up the shaking starts.

^ I think you should take it back and tell them about the shaking. It sounds to me like the wheels aren't balanced properly. If your rear tie rods were, well, less than perfect, wouldn't it cause suspension issues and uneven tire wear? I don't think it would cause shaking. That would be more of a front tie-rod or a control arm bushing? Not sure...

Unbalanced wheels, un tightened lug nuts, worn tires and check that if your wheel hubs are bigger than the axle hubs you have the right size Spigot rings installed!

If none of those work get it electronically aligned and camber adjusted!

Does the car pull? Or just vibrate? If it doesn't pull then probably won't be alignement of camber!

alignment was done at the same time as the wheels were mounted/balanced. the car doent pull at all, just shakes at higher speeds.

camber helps with cornering when used correctly.

But have you checked for a bent rim? or your wheel bearings?

I realize that as far as you are concerned this issue is resolved, but by any chance do you have directional tires? And if so, how exactly did you rotate them? It may very well have been a balancing or uneven wear issue, but the same symptoms might occur from tires rolling in the wrong direction.
