Is it normal for the temp to drop? like when i warm up the car to normal operating temp and i drive continously like in the freeway? isnt it suppose to stay in the middle?

I had exactly the same, after long distances the temperature would drop very gradually.

I put a TRD thermostat and temp gauge in and noticed a better average temperature but it still goes up and down quite alot when stopping and starting, have yet to test on a long distance run i.e. more than 2 hours!

The only other conclusion could be the water pump, however I don't even know myself if this is normal or not????
yes, your temp should go up to normal operating temperature and stay there while you are driving.

a drop in temp like that is usually an indication of a bad thermostat.

yeah, I would try to change the thrmostat, or you could try to take out the thermostat and see if the temp then gets normal....might take a little longer to warm up the car is the thermostat is out...
i have a new thermostat from the dealer, but the 7afe just doesn't make alot of heat. if i turn the heat on full blast when idling the needle will drop just slightly and you can feel it cool off just a little. its just a cool running engine.

Well, my standard water temp doesn't show much of a change in temps but the aftermarket gauge I bought does indicate usually a 20degrees climb or fall between 60 and 80. The car seems to be running fine though performance wise and I get heat from the AC when I want it! I might get a new pump in a few months to see if that helps, just as long as I dont go in the red im happy!
Thanks guys! I think i should check on the thermostat. what i've read is thet it is bad for the engine if the temperature fluctuates. its like after you heat it up to normal operating temp and driving continously and when i stop i notice that the idling is up to 1100 rpm, like warming it up again just like when you start the car.
