I was about to go to a friends house tonight, get in my car, go to start it...click click click click..."crap". Went over to Schucks and got a new battery. Get home and go to unhook the old one, but because of the corrosion the wrench can't even get a grip. here's a pic:

Do you guy's think that just using some battery cleaner on it would work?

just lightly tap on it with a wrench. then you can clean it off with some baking soda and water.

hmm, never heard of the baking soda and water trick. Thanks, I'll try that.

Or you can pour coke on it and then clean your cables off.

or you can just install new terminals. they arnt expensive; a few bucks from your local wal*mart for cheap ones. Or up to 25 bucks for some crazy- platinum with auxiliary out's.
But coke works wonders. It's the carbonation.

The baking soda and water seemed to work really well. I was able to get the cables off and put the new batter in w/ no problem after using it. Only thing that wound up giving me trouble was the fact that the socket got stuck onto the nut that holds the terminal and had a hard time just to get it off. I had to take the nut with the socket off and use a new one

But the car starts up right away now

Seriously dude, go to autozone and get some brass contacts. They're like 3 bucks each and they're corrosion resistant. Really good conductivity too.

Yeah I just might do that...You think Schucks has them? The closest Autozone is an hour away
