How do i make my Air bag go away? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #56235 13 posts Started by needforspeed
A while back my air bags were deployed, and other than the obvious fix (taking out the light in the gauge cluster), is there any other way to make the light go out. I'm not planning on having the air bags recharged or anything along those lines.

thanks.

i believe you need a certian type of computer hooked up to your car to detect the airbag error number and delete it for the light to shut off.
take your celica to toyota for an oil change and walk back to the mechanic and ask him to delete it for you. We did it for people at honda all the time.

It does work but it's tricky.

check state laws there, if you have a clean title on your car, I think it's against the law to conceal that your airbags have deployed. In fact it might be against the law regardless of title status. I think you have to disclose it either way. (in Oregon you do)

Just disconnect the cable from the air bag control unit. It's under the armrest.
i know with my dsm's you needed to put a 2ohm resistor i beleive in place of the air bag or the light would stay on. I did this on one with the drivers airbag still in, but pulled the passenger's to save weight... what a joke i know

i later just took the whole system out

you know why they put sheep at the edge of a cliff.... that way they push back!(2:27:32 AM) edit: please f*cking work, f*ck, sh*t, piss(2:28:08 AM) edit: that did the trick

that box under the arm rest (center console) is the control unit and all i have to do is disconnect.

Not to thread jack or anything, but I have the same issue, execpt my airbags have been repacked and recharged. Can't you just take an OBD2 scanner and clear the codes?

If anyone needs info on the Toyota Curren feel free to PM me!
this is by far your easiest solution man. there is an airbag fuse in the engine bay fuse box... pull it.

lol its what i did after my wreck, fixing them is just too pricey.

I was gonna try it but, was told that my airbags may deploy under hard braking if the code that was popping up for mine was correct(have the code saying the sensors are bad, i know it was in an accident and know that the airbags were replaced but not sure if they just didn't reset the system or if the sensors are really bad) and not just a lazy person not resetting my system after it was wrecked.

That's what I did...it severs the power to the airbags and the light goes off.
