yesterday i was inflating one of my tires with a compressor that plugs into the lighter and all of a sudden it stopped working. i thought it was the compressor but i checked and it wasnt. i also checked the fuse box next to the driver side door but no fuses were blown. any ideas as to why this is not working? i just bought neons and was going to hook them up to it so i need it to work. anything will help
try checking to see if the back of the lighter burnt out.

i took the whole thing out ond checked it out everything looked ok to me i even took it apart anc cleaned it.
it could be the compressor....my dad's compressor plugs into the cig lighter too and it has an auto shut-off after 10 minutes.. >confused.gif>
its not the compressor. the lighter doesnt even work
Get a tester and check to see if power is going threw the cord that plugs into the lighter. Atleast that will tell you where the problem is.
Fuse.
yeh I'm with fallen hero. Get a 12 volt tester. They are cheaps as chips. I got mine for $1.60 AUD which is about 80 cents US.
Heres what to do, If the Cig/Rad spade fuse in the panel
(drivers side by boot release) hasn't blown then your
going to have to pull out the centre panel surrounding the
gearstick gator. The female socket of the cig lighter has
2 connectors to it, one is the illuminator, the other is the
power supply.Remove these and the centre panel should
be free to move.Turn it round, heres the tricky bit. There is
a tiny fuse attatched at the back of the female socket, it looks like a tiny tantalum capacitor. This will almost certainly have burned out.Its held in by 2 crimps.Your gonna have to bend these crimps, remove the fuse and replace with a short piece of suitable guage wire and press the crimps back to grip the wire.Reconnect all connectors and replace fittings.your cig lighter should work now,
