what rotors and pads do yous think are the best... and in a decent price range.
best brake rotors and pads? - 6G Celicas Forums
brembo blanks get the best reviews from members, as for pads it depends, most hawks are really good for the money, but I think there are some EBC options as well.
I've been using Bendix pads and I've been quite happy with them.
Bendix are just OEM cheap replacements
HAWK/EBC/Furodo/akibono are going to be some of the better pads to replace your current ones with
Irotors/Powerslot slotted rotors are really good, as well as a traditional brembo blank

I have brembo blanks and hawk hps pads. So far, they stop better then anything ive tried before.
Downsides:
Lots of brake dust.
Squeal.
I think the squeal might be due to my missing shims and anti rattle springs.

Brembos and hawks as well- they do a great job. Installed with shims, springs and brake grease they are quiet, no squeaks or squeals at all.
i guess i am going to be the first to try ksport rotors and calipers with hawk hps's

mine have little to none?!
mine have little to none?!
Yep.
The brake dust was pretty bad when i first put them on. After driving around for a while, its not as bad as it first was, but they still do it.
Do yours squeal at all?

nope no squeel, i also have powerslot rotors
PBR / AXXIS pads are best sellers here. EBC is good and also Ferrodo. I only sell SR Rotors.
Brembo blanks and OEM Toyota pads are the best way to go.
I've had a lot of problems with noise over the years, I finally got some $45-50 ceramic pads from Autozone which were the quietest up until then, they just made slight squeaking in the AM sometimes. Problem with those was the compound was too hard and warped my rotors within the first month.
I had my rotors cut, put some $30 OEM pads on and they work incredibly, I've had absolutely no noise from them, and no grooving or warping of the rotors. For the money you can't get any better.

Did you have to order those OEM pads from a dealership? And what's the compound, are they organic or semi-metallic? Just curious so as to gauge life expectation. I'm due for a brake job like MONTHS ago.
Generally OEM parts only come from the dealer [if you have a private shop install OEM, they sourced them from the dealer].
OEM pads are semi metallic. They won't tear up rotors unless they are an el cheapo brand.
Live expectancy depends on how hard you brake.
Usually front pads last roughly 40k miles. But if you play Colin McRae every day, they'll go out much sooner.
Almost forgot.
