Hey what do u guys know on performance chips for our cars?
I found a company called JET Chips www.jetchip.com where u send them ur ECU they install the chip n send it back to u. Cost is about $400.
Does any one know how much HP can be gained by this?
Is it worth the money?

i can send you a bag of chips if you want to send me your $400...will probably do the same thing for your car....i wouldnt trust anyhting like that unless it's 100% garenteed and they have personal dyno sheets to show it...of course they make it sound convincing but you never know...i would look into better ways to spend 400 dollers on your car and get the same amount of HP out of your car that they say the chip will get you

Can you go into detail on those "colt" cams and what can they do for the 5sFE? Are they direct bolt ons? Do you need to upgrade anything or tune at a dyno??

JETCHIPS are a proven company and highly popular (mostly among Fords and Chevys).

no doubt, i was just backing up "jetchips"...used to have a few camaros and was really into performance chips back then, though I never got one for the chevys, i soon found out that jetchips are kings in that type of engine.

all the 'jet chip" for our car is, is a resistor, that fools the engine into thinking the air entering the engine is super cold, which in turn adds a bit more fuel.
nothing really to gain from it.
colt cams are a bolt on, only requiring a reshim to be back up and running.
although doing the timing belt, cam seal, and possibly water pump isnt a bad idea, especially if your engine has over 100K on it, without a waterpump being done.
they are a GREAT upgrade for the 5s, dustin (batman722) made great power, and gained 20+whp and TQ after 4400rpm, with a set of webcams cams, where its desperately needed on the 5s.

i totally agree with Presure2 on how our Celicas need the higher RPM power. That's the route i'm going very soon. So, bottom line get the cams forget the chip.
