Apartment Necessities? - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #54725 26 posts Started by jdg371
I am planning on moving out in the future. Months and months from now, but definitely before June 08. I live with my parents have little to basicly nothing to my name but my clothes. For those who moved out and lived in an apartment, what are the TOP 15 Things you would have gotten instantly. List them in order if you can.. im trying to get an idea of what I need to start collecting...

Lets the fun begin! laugh.gif

[BTW im not sure if its a repost.. i couldnt find one..]
weapon: close range and far range
microwave, toaster, fridge, minifridge, tv, dvd player, dinner table, chairs/sofa, basic toiletries, febreze, bed, alarm clock, vacuum, fire extinguisher, set of playing cards

=p
A shower curtain... you may laugh, but you'll forget.
Cooking wear like pots, skillet, cookie sheet, measuring cups, all useful.

Oh, and you can never have enough trashcans, big and small.

"He won't come out of the bathroom. He keeps telling us we're dark somethings and not his friends.""Hmm. Ask him if he's the dragon reborn.""What?""Just do it."".......He said yes.""Tell him you are not darklings. He should open up."".......Sweet. Thanks.""No problem."
lock on your door, mini fridge to keep your roommates out of your food (most apartments should have a full size fridge already. if not that would suck), tv + accessories, laptop (much easier than a desktop set up), food, bathroom equipment, alarm on your car, people you don't care to hate after you live with them for roommates, basic kitchen supplies (george foreman, toaster, plates, bowls etc...), bedroom stuff (bed and at least a hanger bar), and voila
you are a bachelor

gl
just a note though, once you move out you won't ever want to move back home again. trust me on this one.

Call me a traitor! See if I care. ;)
(1) a fan, =)
(2) clothes hangers
(3) microwave
(4) mini fridge if you're living with roommates
(5) small tv for your room
(6) filing cabinet for all of your important paper work
(7) ear plugs because sometimes roommates or neighbors can be loud
(8) shower curtain and rings
(9) towels
(10) cleaning products
(11) vacuum
(12) febreeze
(13) gladware for leftovers
(14) condiments like, ketchup, salt & pepper, etc.
(15) a piggy bank for extra change (this will come in handy!)

Agreed. I had to move back home for a couple of months last year and I hated it. I would rather be broke and living on my own than having more money living with my parents. Omg.. the freedom is amazing.

YoungSurvival.Org-Celica traded for.. 350z.. traded for Mazda5.. soccer mom!
computer (lap or desk), television, fridge, microwave, oven, videogame system (takes care of entertainment n dvd player), stereo/surround sound (for fiestas or movie times), toaster, blender, AC, fan(s), literature, desk, air freshener(s), toilet paper.

yep. thats what i would have..taking in consideration you will have food already, cause that is a given..rite? lol

Pandelica 2.0 in progress.
maybe on here already, but one very overlooked thing is a new toilet seat. for obvious reasons!

QUOTE (Galcobar @ Oct 15, 2008 - 2:44 AM)You want power but have no money. That's a problem.Cheap. Reliable. Fast. Pick two.
1. Shower curtain is a must(hangin by the wall cause you forgot one sux, and don't forget the rings)
2. Tables, chairs, and all that are nice, yet not too necessary(in my first apt I was poor so I signed up to deliver phone books and ended up not being able to pass em all out so I made an apt full of tables, chairs, couches, stands and the couch and chairs were pretty comfortable lol)
3. Cookware
4. A can opener lol
5. Microwave
6. Trash can
7. Cleaning supplies(broom, vaccuum, mop, sponges, and cleaners)
8. Something to do in down time(radio, dvds, tv, whatever)
9. Towels
10. Most apts have a fridge, but just in case
11. Curtains/sheets for the windows(personally I think the slot blinds on windows are crap)
12. Plunger(always handy)
13. Mat for the hallway to put shoes on when you are coming in from something dirty or wet
14. Cheap decorations for the walls(doesn't feel like home with bare walls)
15. *this one isn't really a need for you to get unless you find one with hookups, but try to cause laundromats suck* Washer & Dryer

For me I had to wait for about 6 months for a bed. I just used the mattress(the kind that are like a big pillow) from a futon, sheets, and a sleeping bag as a blanket lol.... but yeah, if you don't have one to take with you, definitely get a bed. Sleeping on the floor, phonebook couches, and a futon mattress get old after a while lol.

So far.. I actually own, a single matress, futon, PS2/TV/Radio, A plethera of cleaning supplies and trash bags, dresser, clothes hanger and those portable closets.. lol.

Should a Full size fridge, washer, and dryer be on my list? I can somewhat live off using laundrymats and I would hope that the apartment comes with a fridge.

1) Toilet paper
2) basic cleaning products/rags
3) laundry supplies
4) shower curtain
5) bath towels <----- note this is PLURAL
6) a bath mat especially if you plan on inviting girls over.
7) scenty candles if you plan on inviting girls over.
8) dishes/silverwear/silverwear drawer organizer
9) one decent pan, one decent pot and one big pot for pasta, you'll be eating lots of it
10) get a futon off Craigslist. This is a cheap and easy way to get a bed and a way to spiff up your space if you're sharing an apartment and plan on having girls over.
11) a tv and a DVD player
12) internet service to find used crap on craigslist and recipes to cook something up for your lady friends if you really want to impress them. It will be the best investment you can make.
13) a desk/table/something to put your computer on
14) LIGHT BULBS
15) a table lamp for above desk. Those overhead fixtures do NOTHING for ambiance if you plan on having girls over.
