3sgte how to tell the diffrence? - 6G Celicas Forums

Am about to buy a clip from a shop but they cant tell me if is the rc version ...how can i check that? also how can i tell if its water to air intercooler? and does any one know where i can get my ecu converted * i have both harnesses and ecu's*

The intercooler is different, the ECU is different, the AFM is different. Check the part #s.

Easy to search - Phoenix Tuning can do a conversion and there are pics of these intercoolers everywhere.

couple easy indicators...
1st&3rd gens are water-air cooled
2nd&4th gens are air-air cooled
1st&2nd gens come with ct26 turbos. found in 165's&185's
3rd&4th gens come with ct20 turbos. found in 205's&215's
soo... yea those should help make it easy.
and yes there are other differences (ie. cam duration, ecu's, pistons, etc) but i'm pretty sure those are the easiest ways to tell.
plz correct me if any of my info is wrong.

not to be a smart a$$ but, he can't tell if the intercooler is W2A or A2A and you're telling him about cam duration ?

ST185 RC ( see the black intercooler ) that's Water to air intercooler that's the main difference between a ST185 and ST185 RC
