Had to break from 110 down to 40 - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #53872 28 posts Started by DanTheMan
Hello, someone pulled out on me the other day and i had to break VERY HARD, snaking everywhere, had the backend right out at one point but i didnt hit anything

now

at speed 40+ theres a knocking noise comming from my car, and i can feel it on my arse and on the wheel

ive had a look at the break pads, has anyone else got any ideas? the knocking gets faster with speed

Could it be your axles?

Because thats all i can think of knocking if its not your brakes.

can you really bend your axel from breaking like that?

also dont bearings make a squeeking noise?
in one of my old cars it was a pounding noise that you felt by your foot
No you won't nessecarily bend an axle. You can easily bust them up doing stuff like that. I didn;t see this pile of snow in the middle of the road (dark out) and my axle ripped out.

Try turning left and right while going slow what ever side you here knocking thats the one with a problem.

or break got warped :S or you ground it a little more on one side...
maybe you flat spotted your tires

2015 Subaru WRX. World Rally Blue/Black2001 Honda S2000. Spa Yellow/Black
and thats a perfect example of why you keep the celica's speedo in the double, not tripple digits* you may be able to handle a car at that speed, im learning to also on a closed track*
************************************************************
BUT people who share the road with you are complete donkey arses most of the time!
Examples:
*itches putting on makeup wile driveing next to you and swirving in your lane
old f*cks in buicks that go 53 in the fast lane with a speedlimit of 70
sleepy truckers that dont stop to sleep, out of greed for more money
theres also cops that would love nothing more that to write you a $250+ ticket

poopra sellout... 88targa, 50trim ct, 383lsd, and shreadin tires like its my job!!!QUOTE (RUNNIN-LOW @ Feb 17, 2009 - 1:53 PM)buying a rusty car is like dating a girl with a bush! if u like it like that go for it.. :D if u can repair and make it look better then its all the better for u!...
tell me about it, im never speeding like that again

ive just come back from another run trying to find out what the problem is.

Its very hard to tell because my ride is so HARD that you feel any bump in the road

seems to only happen when doing more than 70, but i still cannot tell if its the road or my car normally!

i hope to god i have flatspotted my tires, and that it isnt a problem with the axel, im going to get it professionally look at tomorrow
raise your car and see if your axle is bent, you can more or less see... and then look at tires...
The axles don't have to be bent. to make clunks. It could be a cv joint. But if that needs replacing you might as well replace the entire axle.

Had the suspension and breaks checked, everything was fine.

Checked the tires and they where chewed to bits and flatspotted.

Job Jobbed, thanks guys.

Flat spots FTL, new tires!
flat spotting is a good possibility

but FYI if the problem is coming from the REAR we DON'T have axles back there (you know FWD lol)

only have control arms in the back wink.gif

he has a GT4 bruh. lol
If you locked the tires then you could have flat spotted them, but you could also have spun a tire on the rim, making it out of balance. If you find nothing visibly bent I would try rotoating tires and see if you can make the vibration change location.

not always, i just f'd mine up by sliding into a curb, it makes a vibrating noise, not unlike the noise you'd hear if you were on the highway with un balanced tires....
How do you bend an axle braking...

MyFlickrMyeBay_Perpetual Aperture_
i was reading the posts earlier in the thread about speeding. I don't whats different with my celica to the rest of here because my car flat out at 140mph handles completely fine, its very stable and sometimes i do break heavily from that speed while racing and the brakes and the car stays dead straight and stable,no twitchin,no problems. I duno what you guys r talking about. Mind you,my car has been lowered quite abit,40mm actually. - M4 MOTORWAY,best spot to race..
Found out after this i have no ABS, the hardcore jap nutjob i purchased my car from removed it.

Hence flatspotting all my tires.

Found out later on ive snapped my break pad and warped my front disk too!!

Lesson leant, next time stear round em laugh.gif

P.s. Im not the problem here, if you had a choice of entering a Motorway at 40 or 110 what would you choose? you can break from 110 down to 40 alot quicker than you can get from 40 to 80 which youll need to do to stop some unsuspecting person hitting you straight in the ass because you didnt wanna use too much petrol by hitting at least 70 on the sliproad.

There the type of people that should be "frowned apon"

Drives me fu**ing nuts that theres people out there who can barely see and have a reaction speed of 5 seconds that have cheaper insurance than me....... Thinking about it illd be happy to Flatten the front of my car just to make a point.
dont hurt the gt4!!!!! haha

well good to hear you got everything all sorted out

if you havent, id fix them tires up before you chew up the xfer case

you know why they put sheep at the edge of a cliff.... that way they push back!(2:27:32 AM) edit: please f*cking work, f*ck, sh*t, piss(2:28:08 AM) edit: that did the trick
