keeping the ct26 cool - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #53619 3 posts Started by cjh4l22
Ok so i was under the impression until recently that the ct26 was just oil cooled. well dumb me, its both water and oil. so my question goes... i plan on doing the 2nd/3rd gen (w/4th gen cams and adjustable cam gears) into my 95st. Now what radiator would i have to use in order to make sure the water gets run to the turbo? or do u tap into the engine to push water to the turbo? please let me know, thank you.

oh, and 2nd question. would it be better, performance-wise, to use a '90 5sfe tranny w/the 3sgte or the mr2 e-153 tranny (or its non-lsd brother)?? thanks again.

Obviously performance wise go with the e153 lsd tranny. You cant go worng there more power to the wheels.

You don't have to do anything to the cooling system to get the water to the turbo, it goes through the motor.

With the transmission, that old of one can cause problems. The S53 will have shorter gear ratios and you'll run through the gears quicker, maybe get you a quicker acceleration, but you'll have a lower top end.

I like the gear ratios on the E153 more.
