SUBTITLE I--PATRIOTIC AND NATIONAL OBSERVANCES AND CEREMONIES

this picture was taken at Senator Harkin's annual fry festival in Iowa..

i dont believe that falls into the category of a Patriotic or National Observance / Ceremony.

hahahahaha he looks like such a dork!!!!! but yea, you would think that someone in such position would be a bit more mindful about things like this. plus it looks likes hes just standing there twiddling his thumbs! good luck to all of the candidates... and more so to all of us who have to deal with them for 4+ years

is that why they have their hands over their hearts? maybe they all just suffer from heart burn all at the same time with a big ol Flag behind them.
all i have to say is that's ridiculous. it's not that you care about the country to be president. you want power and have the money to be able to run.

Call me a traitor! See if I care. ;)

Did you just associate a known terrorist to probably one of the better candidates simply because he didn't put his hand on his heart? Are you F'in kidding me?

This type of BS is the entire problem with people who are ignorant. Spin stories and use stereotyping to try to sway people away from the important issues. This country is beyond screwed up, and there's an issue because his hand wasn't in the right place.

Because he didn't put his hand over his heart means that he will be a terrible president... right?

I don't care what he does during the national anthem. What I care about is how he is going to run our country. The placement of his right hand does not mean a thing.

Judge by their actions in our government, not hand gestures. rolleyes.gif

I will return one day.
whoa that came out wrong smile.gif

I don't believe anyone should "pledge aligence" to things. In the pledge it states "under god", I don't believe that, so therefore the pledge lacks meaning for me.

He can stand anyway he wants to.

His choice of not doing the 'proper' gesture during the national anthem could very well be symbolic. I see it as Obama not wanting to respectfully acknowledge the country in it's current state due to the political corruption in the Bush administration and how the current president is doing things. I know I'm not proud of many decisions this country has decided to make.

Its not lack of respect, i'm sure he simply did not remember to do it.

Its like me call everyone who speeds on a empty highway 3 in the morning street racers and murders because they are not following the law therefore comitting reckless driving.

If he does not salute or put his hand over his heart EVERYTIME on PURPOSE, then it is a lack of respect.

I do agree we are voting on a president with the best ethical and political views; We ALSO need someone who can represent the USA and be a good speaker. Unlike our current president who has had some difficultly with public speaking.

Yeah don't judge him by that picture because he didn't do it once doesn't make him a bad person or a bad president. Seriously and the comment about what the Bush administration has done is true, maybe he doesn't want to pledge the way this country is right now. I don't want to if our country stays like this.. maybe time to move to austrilla.
