Topic #52979 9 posts Started by celicanice

I've been looking for the specs but cant find them.
Do I have to go to a dealer, buy them used, or since their just big screws, go to home depot, or hardware store.

Did search the site and tried to google.

thx
Lugnuts are 12X1.5 I believe...

Double check with your local automotive store, but I'm almost positive thats the thread size and pitch.

You need oem lugs nuts for the oem wheels, they are not tapered they actually "fit" into the holes in the wheels. Maybe I'm wrong though.

Yes, they need to be actual lug nuts, not just nuts you can get from a hardware store. OEM wheels will require the large "Acorn style" lug nut. Aftermarket wheels require "Tuner lugs", which are much thinner, but what separates the typical nut from actual lug nuts is that acorn shape at the end of it.

would a single 2005 corolla lug nut cause bad vibration. I lost one, and replaced momentarily, and im having bad vibration.

already aligned. Already balanced. Whe i have the vibration i take it in neutral and it keeps doing it, so its not the motor moiunt.

I will be chaking for the bearing this weekend. But i wanted your opinions,

You can buy them at autozone or kragen...the only thing you need to specify is whether you have steel wheels or the fancy alloy ones. Acorn nuts are for the steel, if you have alloys they are usually under "Mag Lug Nuts" or something similar. THe alloy ones have a spacer at the end to center the wheel.
to answer my question, one lug nut will not cause vibration.. bad wheels will do it...

time for some aftermarket wheels! smile.gif

A lot of toyotas use the same lugnuts as our car. You could try to go to a tire shop, and see if they have any extra ones that you could have for cheap or even free if you only need one or two.

if you just have steel wheels, then any old acorn nuts will do (as long as it's the right thread and pitch. which is either 12 x 1.5 or 12 x 1.25, I can't remember). not from a hardware store, but I mean any acorn styled lug-nuts. You'd see why they are called acorns if you look at them. they have like a tapered end on one side. You could get these at an autoparts store or a tire shop for pretty cheap.

I should hit one up before this weekend.
