ACT Hybrid Clutch Part Number - 6G Celicas Forums

Topic #52800 7 posts Started by PhilipK
I just got my special order ACT 6-Puck Sprung Hybrid clutch. This allows the GT transmission to mate with the ST205 3sgte. I know that there has been problems with the SPEC hybrid clutch, so if you would like to try ACT, all you have to do is call them and give them the part number. Its a new number, this is the first time they have made this disc. The disc is rated for 400-500 torque. KO Racing uses the ACT plates for their high horsepower applications, with very good results. All ACT products are made in house and are very high quality. Once installed and broke-in I will give my review.

Does no one care about this?
Cool. Should work for 2nd gen 3SGTE as well. Is the clutch disc the spring centered or a solid hub design?

Yes, its sprung as I said and it will work on a 2nd gen.

Sprung or unsprung will work with any 3sgte - its a matter of torque holding capacities and drivability.

For a street application, they are more difficult to modulate. However, they won't have a tendency to chatter like some sprung clutches (e.g. spec) and are the next step up when sprung clutches won't cut it due to power levels. It all depends on your application.

If I were getting another sprung clutch, it would be clutchmasters for sure. Everything that I have read about Act is that they are solid, good products but have a much stiffer pedal feel. I can't speak for others, but having a stock-like pedal feel is important to me in a street car.
