I don't know exactly where this should go...its exterior...yet its electrical....anywayz, anybody got an idea on how I can get my 2 high beams to just be low beams along with my out ones....is it just a matter of re aiming or what...any help would be greatly appreciated...........thanx fellas

Why would you want 4 driving lights? Maybe just get some bright fog lights and keep the high beams for when you need them?

x2 for that, not having high beams may not be nice at some times... what i would recommend if you just want that look, is to either convert to a 2 filament bulb, or just add a second accessory light in the housing - drill a hole and mount that way.

then you can have the cool look of 4 lights, and still have the functionality of having high beams... imo id put like 3 wide angle led's in the housing right by the bulb so its unnoticable but makes them dimly lit to be mercedes style:

All you have to do is take apart the lense housings and re engineer the reflective surfaces. The low beams are set to be a wide low aimed beam the highs are mean to shine a focused beam so you can see farther. You can't change that but if you want to give a "on" look then you could dirl a hole in the side of the housing and insert a running light. Use a lower wattage bulb than a headlight so it won't produce the focussed beam.

Check with your state laws. I had this in somewhat of the same way and when I went in for inspection I failed because of it. I ended up swapping them back to the way they should be.

I failed because somewhere in our laws it states you can not have more than 4 lights on at 1 time. I also had fogs running. Which makes 6 lights in total.

I've done something close to this but I put my blinkers into my hi beam light housing.

I was going to create a new thread but this one was very similar to the problem I have. I don't mean to capture your thread or anything, NickJames.

Is there any way to adjust the height of the beam of the 'high' lights? Both of my high beams point way too low! They hit the ground almost at the same point as my 'lows' do, wich is adjusted at the farthest ahead "0" setting. Here in Norway it's completely pitch black almost half the day at these times of year, and driving without proper lighting is dangerous (even more so at high speeds with wet asphalt..) I've just had the car for a couple of months, so I haven't noticed this before now. I tried screwing the long screws that stands out in the back of the lights but I didn't notice any difference.. Any hints would be a life saver

it would as "simple" as replacing the high beam bulbs with low beam bulbs... which would require shaving the tabs off the bulb... or modifying the bulb holder... like everyone is saying, it will prevent you from having any HB functionality and the aiming of these lights, regardless of lamps - might piss off oncoming traffic.

I am also personally interested in having all four lamps on at once - thought it looked cool.. while maintaining HB functionality. There are couple solutions;

- PWM the Highbeams
- use an OPAMP with DA signal to limit the voltage to the lamps
- use some kind programmable current limit circuit

basically some smart control to allow you to switch between 4 low beams and, 2 low / 2 high functionality

Its impossible, what makes your high beam "high beam" is the lens, not what's inside.
If you want the 4 headlights look, do something like ra65_22re with clear bulbs.

Why would you want to to do this? It's not safe to other drivers to be driving around blinding everyone...

Each housing has 2 adjustment bolts. Up/Down and Left/Right. Just turn your lights on and your high beams. Point them at the side of your house or a building. And start adjusting them with box wrenches.

It would be wicked to use one of the lighting settings to power all 4 lights but not for highbeam capability.

In the off position you have the driving lights (the inside lights)
When you turn on your lights switch to the first position it turns on your lights for night driving (still the inside lights)
When you turn on your lights switch to the second position your lights for night driving are still on but they are (outside lights)
When you push your light switch thing forward you have your highbeams (all 4 lights)

Personally i think that it would be cool if you could use one of these settings, rewiring it? to make capable the use of the driving lights, the inside ones how they work when they arent highbeams, and the outside lights.

Its too bad they didnt make this function and make 4 light settings on the switch.

Off- daily driving lights
1- inner lights
2- outer lights
3- inner and outer lights all 4 lights
and then the push forward all 4 lights Highbeam

while I agree with this statement, there is a little more to it, the lamps from a low beam I believe are 1/2 covered in black coating preventing light from going directly out.. it relies on the radiated light to reflect in the actual enclosure and find its way out in front of you in a nice diffused manner.

I think everyone here who is interested in 4 lit lamps are not necessarily looking for functionality of the "converted" high beams they just want them to glow a bit and a very controlled, low voltage to the HB lamps themselves might give the illusion of being on while not giving off enough light to be irresponsible / dangerous

just aim the highs really low if you want the 4-headlight look. my highs are aimed really low right now because i had to use them initially when i put my projectors in (didnt have the proper bulb sockets). havnt bothered to aim them back up. havnt got flashed once since theyve been aimed down.

An interesting bit...

since I live in Canada, we have DRL, which is high beams running at 6 volts, and because I got clear lens now I got flashed a couple time at dusk cause the refector REALLY focuses the light in a pencil beam shape at other peoples eyes..now I just light up the low/hids as soon as it gets darker.

This is wat I've done:

Drilled a hole in the high beam housing,
put a light in it of 5Watt

This is what it looks like:







I used the switch for the foglights to control them, since i don't have the fogs anymore.

So i can choose whatever lights i want to drive with.

low beams
2 low beams
low beams and high beams

>Looks nice Did you use the same kind of 5W bulbs and connections that's used in the "Position lights" of the Low projectors? (The lights you have on in the first pic). Do you have a pic of the High projector housing?

During day time I'm usually driving with just the fog lights and the position lights on, I think it looks kinda cool But if I had position lights in both the highs and the lows it could maby look even cooler?
