i got a 1 farad power cap for my amp its sounds so much better. the subs respond to hard core bass so much better. the dont fizzle out. its good stuff. figured i'd let you guys know. i got it for $2.50 at walmart where it supposed to be 79 bucks. my friend who workd there sold it as a different item.

Nice work on the Wal Mart scam. >wink.gif>

Were you having problems with your headlights or any other lights fading when the bass would hit very hard before? If so, did this stop any fading from happening?

Also, how many watts RMS is your amp?

i had very little fading under extreme bass but the cap solved that. but improved sound quality by far. i have an 800 watt amp bridged and running in series with four subs that are at 400 watts each. the amp really really need the help. but if u have fading of the lights a power cap will most definatly stop it.

I don't have fading lights because my amp is only capable of 500 watts RMS, and I have the gains turned way down and I usually never have my bass very loud. I just like it to blend in with my music. >smile.gif>

Nice to know that it helped your sound quality though. >smile.gif>

amazing how them suckers work..hehe, rather simple piece of equipment too! oh well..good work!
The reason you noticed such an improvment is that your stock alternator is barely big enough to run the car itself.

Cap's are not cure-alls even though there are still some people out there who believe a cap will fix every power problem imaginable. A high output alternator will provide you with the amperage that you need to properly run your audio system, as well as the rest of the vehicle's electronics.

Don't get me wrong, adding a cap can help, but it will not "fix" the problem. If anything it will only act as a bandaid and the problem will get worse. Using a Cap in the proper circumstance can help even out voltage regulation for better SQ. But it will not fix your power problem.

i'm running 1200w RMS and i don't fade that much, but i think the optium battery helps out, i want two caps but haven't got the money to spare yet.
I had 1100 watt bridged amp running my 2 12's and an 850 watt amp powering my interiors and i never had a problem with my alternator.
