Yea I have the same problem.its known..you gotta bring it to the dealership to fix it. To open the trunk you have to hold the key to the right and open it using the spoiler....lol

oh wow, im not the only one... lol

i am awesome
Nate,
thanks, do you know how they fix, do they replace any part...

Yep, mine's the same way. The remote trunk release won't do it. How much does the dealer charge to fix it?
Mine doesn't work either, but it's simply because my trunk lid is so much heavier than stock due to several layers of sound deadener and an aftermarket spoiler. That may be the cause of your problems.

Moved to a more appropriate forum. >wink.gif>

New Toyota project coming soon...
ive got the same problem and im pretty sure its the gas shocks that open the trunk its about 60$ each from an auto parts store, do it yourself. Im about to just gota get 120 >tongue.gif>
I was going to replace the shocks, but then I figured they'd die quickly, because my trunk is very heavy. Most chicks can't even lift it up, and when I turn the key and tell my friends to lift, they're always saying "Dude, it's not opening, just because it's so heavy." >wink.gif>

So what I want to do is make it one of those flip-flop trunks where the trunk lid stays flat and just moves up. Someday I'll have to look at that and see how I'm going to do it.

mmmm mmmm hatchbacks

also what you can do is like umm whenever you lock the trunk by turning the key to the left ...that locks it so nothing will open it without the key...all you have to do is unlock it by turning it to the right then middle then right then middle again...that should unlock it i think (hope).

or just trade it in for a hatchback.hehe

edit: coomer thats funny about your friends not being able to lift it.

sometimes with the W7's in there in the past i thought that sometimes the trunk might open by itself because the pressure was so great. it sure did make the wiper blade bounce a few inches off.
